He brought along Sparano's son, too. I think it's obvious at this point that Rex is simply incapable of changing. The slate was wiped clean and he had a fresh new start in Buffalo, and what does he do? He immediately surrounds himself with the same bunch of useless dickbags that played a big part in us trotting out one of the worst offenses in the NFL over the last 3 or 4 years. Compare that to Bowles, who has realized from the get-go that offense isn't his area of expertise so he tabbed a longtime respected offensive coach in Gailey and has given him free reign over constructing his own offensive coaching staff. Rex is just an incompetent jackass. Which is a shame because, like a lot of other people, I really like Rex as a person and hoped for him to succeed (in Atlanta). But any reservations that anyone on this board had about letting him go should've totally disappeared with the way that he's constructing that offense. The only real building block that they have on that side of the ball is Sammy Watkins, and who the fuck thinks that Sanjay Lal is the guy to get him to fulfill his full potential? Orton is kicking back at home with his feet up, Spiller is going to be a FA (and I'd put money on him coming here), Fred Jackson is going to be 34 years old in February and Bryce Brown has been a disappointment. Not to mention that basically the entire OL with the exception of Cordy Glenn and Eric Wood needs to be totally overhauled. Yeah, they'll have an outstanding defense. But that doesn't mean dick when your offense is averaging around 16 points a game. I don't even know who Sporano's son is. Was he on the staff last year? Tony Sporano JR. He was a "seasonal intern" with us since 2012, promoted to "offensive assistant" (whatever that means) this year. Bills just signed him as a Tight Ends coach.

With what experience? Mangini has been working as the tight ends coach at SF this past year. Holy cow.

For whatever Rex's shortcoming as a coach are, he is a loyal person, give him that.

I saw the thread title and thought this might be a joke. I wonder if the Bills fans have an idea what is in store for them.

For whatever Rex's shortcoming as a coach are, he is a loyal person, give him that. And that's one of his biggest downfalls as a coach. Loyalty to shitty, over the hill players. Loyalty to shitty offensive coaches that he constantly surrounds himself with. The guy is a fucking idiot. You can like his personality and charisma all you want. Still doesn't change the fact that he's essentially a glorified DC. And it's not like a good DC is what Buffalo needed to take the next step. They had the 10th ranked defense under Pettine in 2013 and the 4th ranked defense in 2014 under Schwartz.

And people honestly thought that Rex was going to turn some kind of corner, realize his mistakes, and become a better coach? David Lee, Tony Sparano Jr. and Sanjay Lal... Good Lord he doesn't care. he took the easiest path and he'll always have a great broadcasting career waiting. he thinks he's always right, it's amazing how some refuse to acknowledge mistakes. at least the jets have changed it all

I'm glad I don't have to worry about that idiot coming back as a coach.
I have no idea what Rex is thinking but bringing over Lal and Lee shows how off base he is as a coach. Those two guys are completely worthless.

I still think wr coach is probably the most meaningless coaching position in the NFL, but this is still pretty funny. The Steelers do not agree.

I'm happy as anyone and he's gone ,but I was separating the person from the coach, rex definitely seems the type once you're on his side you're on his side if you act like a drunken asshole and start a fight at a bar he'll have your back. Loyalty or true loyalty is a hard commodity to come by nowadays. Maybe he reminds me too much of some of my knuckleheaded friends that are loud and obnoxious but when you peel the layers off have a really good heart. I'm sure some you have people you work with that aren't great at their jobs and frustrate you,but still good people,That you could grab a beer after work with. As people have said before id have a beer with Rex.
