I agree. They made him tone it down and, in their defense, the Jets played the Cheaters to a draw. The game you saw Wilson play yesterday is not his game. However, he needs to find middle ground and not be retreating in the pocket and running around all the time. Not to bring up ancient history but Namath had similar struggles with interceptions, forcing throws which weren't there and figured it out. I am in no way comparing his abilities to Namath but I just can't bring myself to give up on him yet. I base this on how he played against Buffalo and one of the best defenses in the NFL. Also, while I hate to, you have to give Mumbles his due as well as his staff in drawing up the Cheaters game plan and the defensive schemes to frustrate the Jets. Also, while I have no proof, a leopard doesn't change his spots and it's entirely possible those bastards are still intercepting the headset signals and/or are picking up the play from the Jet's sidelines or booth. You just don't see a team get skunked like the Jets did in the 2nd half and blame it all on incompetence. On another note, I didn't know Justin Fields was injured yesterday and the Bear's defense isn't all that good. If Wilson lays another egg against the Bears, I will be less likely to defend him, but for now, I still have to. I'm in a similar place as you, maybe a bit further down the road on giving up on him. Like everyone has said so far, it's evident that he is not playing his game, even remotely. Whether or not they can figure out a way for him to do so is anyone's guess. I certainly hope they do because he has tons of talent, and despite yesterday's presser, seems to have a good attitude. But let's not kid ourselves; as soon as he's benched he's likely done for good. I think he's out of whack. Like an amateur golfer trying to fix 10 things in his swing at once and doesn't trust his instincts anymore. Watching him he's not confident...backing up, throwing constantly off his back foot even when he doesn't need to, same with the side arm stuff.

What are the odds? Better get a tent on this clownshow. FFS! Honestly i dont care much about what he says to press. Theyll make shit up no matter what he says. So, fuck those guys. So long as hes not throwing his team mates under the bus I dont care. Really trying to not give up on Zach. Trying to convince myself that it still growing pains and a bad game is part of the peaks and valleys. But the body of work and questionable progression. Damn. Hard to look past it. I agree, but after possibly one of the worst games a QB could have, while your D plays lights out and keeps a team to 3 points, your answer to the question "DO you feel you let the defense down", the answer is obviously yes. And if you think the defense doesn't care what he said, you're wrong. They know we could go to the playoffs with an average QB. Was watching Boomer and Gio this morning - while I’m not totally excusing his “no” answer, they brought up the fact that it probably had something to do with who asked that question. It was Conner Hughs who Zach hates and has a big problem with because of his reporting. Hence, I think Zach was just being a dick back to him and hopefully he clarifies when he speaks to his teammates and the media next time. Obviously the O let the D down. Everyone knows this and I’m sure Zach does as well. As for the receivers complaining, yes Garret Wilson is frustrated. But Zach also didn’t cal out Mims for that horrendous drive killing drop either. So, I’m not going to make as big a deal out of it as it’s currently being made out to be.

Great comparison, and I think you're pretty close to spot-on here. Like I said, hopefully they can get most of it fixed, and quickly. It's almost like he was going in the right direction (albeit slowly), and then the NE game happened and they were like 'whoa, whoa, let's scale this shit back a ton, he ain't ready." Too much of a pendulum shift. Like everything else nowadays :shakescane:

He also gave a more complete answer when interviewed by an ESPN reporter later.

I thought that Flacco was his whack guy. I hear Watson whacks it a lot. Maybe he has some advice.

During the second half yesterday the Jets average gain was 2.7 inches per snap.
Impressive.

I think the best thing that can happen to the Jets after the shit show in Shitboro is to come out and really beat the shit out of the Bears. The offense needs to put up some serious points. If not, the Jets may want to sit Wilson and let him watch again for a while. I know some have already cut him loose and I respect their opinion. I just think the Jets are not going to cut him loose after two seasons. The final 7 games should cement my opinion on Wilson's future with the Jets.

Wilson's draft status is the only thing saving him. I'm guessing he gets 1 half against the bears. If he sucks the same way, he's benched.

I mean, if White's starting, then that has to be decided certainly by Wednesday, because they have to run the offense in practice. And, even if it's we-might-pull-the-plug before the end of the CHI game, that would seem to say that White gets some first-team reps this week. I just don't think Saleh said this for nothing. I think there's already changes coming down. We'll see how durable they get.
