Just realized the same Vance Joseph who's about to become Denver DC is the same guy Kotite decided to play at CB vs Tim brown on MNF in 1995... Despite Joseph being a college QB and not having any experience on defense..
What could possibly go wrong?....
EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J., Oct. 1— The Jets, who haven't been doing well in the afternoons, aren't ready for prime time either.
They fell apart tonight in their only network showcase of the year, stumbling to a 47-10 defeat against the Raiders that led quarterback Boomer Esiason to say, "I have never felt so utterly embarrassed in my football career."
Small wonder. By the third quarter, the fans had started cheering "Let's Go Raiders!" And at the end, much of the remaining sparse crowd was composed of taunting teen-agers wearing the opposition's silver-and-black.
Even the Raiders' Tim Brown, who generated two touchdowns and knows cheering (he played for Notre Dame) said: "It was strange out there. I started feeling bad for the Jets. I know it's not a good feeling."
The way they played was incomprehensible to the players. And the fact that an untested rookie, Vance Joseph, was playing the first game of his life at cornerback was equally confusing.
If this debacle needed punctuation, it was provided in the final quarter when linebacker Mike Jones of the Raiders picked up Wayne Chrebet's fumble at the Oakland 48. Six Jets got their hands on him, but he eluded their tackles, stumbling the last 20 yards toward the goal line. In his wake, disbelieving, dejected Jets were strewn over the field. Jones is a converted fullback, but this run must have surpassed any of his college heroics.

I was at this game. 17 years old and shit faced off of some domestic beer with 'ice' in its name.
Upper deck. Shouting 'don't leave- the jets are a 4th quarter team!' To all of our departing fans.

I was there that night too, not sure if it was the week before or after Kotitie nearly got Boomer killed vs Bruce Smith and the Bills with another rook at tackle.
