Gailey has the Norv Turner syndrome He sucks as a HC but is one of the better offensive minds and playcallers in the business. And unless Gailey is sold on Geno being a viable option at QB, then Mariota is almost assured of being a Jet if he's still on the board at #6. Absolute perfect fit for Gailey's version of the spread. I just got hard. Not rock hard, but there was some movement And bring in Gase as QB coach if he gets passed over in Cleveland and St. Louis for their OC spots... Hard as a diamond in a snow storm

i'm actually pretty pumped about this. Chan running an offense with weapons (hopefully) like Decker, Kerley, Harvin, Amaro, Ivory and then hopefully additions of Demariyus Thomas, CJ Spiller, Randall Cobb. Could be a sweet offense for any QB.

As compared to, say, Brian Schottenheimer

Another reason why I like Gailey is that if he's a success, he's not going anywhere.
No one is giving him another HC job after two failed stints and being 63 years old.
Could be our OC for the next 5+ years. If LeBeau is still coaching at 77, then I don't see why Gailey couldn't coach into his late 60's.
Would be nice to have some fucking continuity with the offensive coaching for a change.

still not sold on gailey. to me he's an average oc. henning was like a guru when he was with the jets and parcells but he also failed as hc and his other stops weren't so great. heck they may as well have kept morhinweg. it does seem true that gailey isn't going anywhere else at his age and he does have lots of experience. we'll see if they finally do bring in a new qb or at least give geno some pressure in training camp.

Like I said before, Solid hire. No boner pants, but if someone can get something out of Geno it's Gailey. Let him work his smoke and mirrors for a couple of seasons while we build the talent on O....

Lol - good point! I am pretty sure every QB under Schotty has suffered horrible injury on his watch: from Brees' torn labrum, to Chaddy to Favre to Sanchez to Bradford

Like it. Big pieces are in place. Countdown to combine, draft and free agency. Let's go...

I love it. Especially since all the local hacks were just chomping at the bit to start their usual mudslinging because a few days went by without him actually signing on the dotted line.
