This is the best and worst of both worlds for me. First and foremost, once again those fucking Cheatriots and the Evil Not So Genius get busted again.....just fan-fucking-tastic. Their history is forever tainted. You just can't make this disappear anymore.
On the flip side, I am surrounded by insufferable Colts fans who think they deserve to be in the Superbowl, when the reality is deflated balls or not, they still got their asses kicked.

Article about ball deflation - though I have had it up to here with the Loser's Creed of 'everbody does it'. sports.yahoo.com/blogs/not-for-attribution/longtime-college-football-equipment-manager-everyone-cheats-deflates-184104713.htmlLongtime college football manager: Everyone cheats and deflates footballs on game day Y!: So how does it work, exactly? Take me through the process of how you would deflate a ball. A: Before the game the officials ask for like, six footballs. You provide them to the officials before the game in the locker room. Then they take a Sharpie and they mark them on the white strip with whatever marks or colors they recognize as saying, you know, ‘We’ve approved these balls.’ After that, you’re not supposed to touch them at all. But between your ball boys and the ball being on the sidelines – and then at halftime, when you control all of your own balls – there is ample opportunity to adjust them. Y!: How do you deflate it? A: For the helmets, there’s a handheld air pump. You squeeze it and it has a needle on the end. You squeeze it to pump it, it has a little knob on the side. You just turn the knob counterclockwise, and it lets air out. Every sideline has like 20 of those around, so it’s common for people to carry them. Y!: Have there been any times where you thought you were caught? A: No. The closest calls are those rare instances where you need to make an adjustment on the sideline. You’re just very careful about making sure nobody sees you doing it. Y!: Is there a plan in place if someone catches you? A: I guess you play through it some in your head. But I guess you have to have some sort of self-assurance that there’s a chain of command. It’s not my call. It’s not like it’s something you just make up and go do it on your own. I guess the feeling is that if you got caught, you could go to the coach and they won’t kill you over it – kind of like what happened to the guy at USC. I would hope that that wouldn’t happen. Honestly, I’d probably just play dumb.

This should all be swept under the rug because Fatfork pulled a drunk woman out of her overturned car

1) Hopefully, the league "favors" the Seahawks in the Super Bowl This will be the Pats punishment guys. Another SB loss. Another Brady waterfall of tears after a loss. Anything else besides a fine and taking a pick away is too much bad publicity for the shield.....

With that many balls deflated that doesn't sound like somebody furtively deflating a ball before it goes out on a play, that was more likely something done systematically before the game. With so many deflated balls it raises the question whether this is something they did for this game due to the weather or if it's something they do every game.
Either way, I don't see how the league attempts to keep talking about integrity if Belidick doesn't suffer at least the same penalty as Payton although there is good reason to assess a greater penalty against him personally plus the team. Maybe Belidick deserves a lifetime ban as a repeat offender.
One thing Patriots fans surrounded themselves with in spygate was how many former coaches came out and said this was common and everybody does it. Well that may not be the case here with the deflated balls because if all the teams did it then the Colts LB who caught the interception wouldn't have thought twice about the weight of the ball because all the balls would be similarly deflated.

Funny how all the Flats* fans signed off the second Chris Mortenson tweeted that. What a bunch of delusional cunts. The mental gymnastic it takes to be a Flats* fan must be exhausting. much like being a moderate Democrat the last few years.

It's really irrelevant if other teams do it - there is a very clear rule and it's flouting provides a crystal-clear competitive advantage to the team that does it. A flatter ball is also easier to catch, harder to fumble, etc.
And I actually don't think so many other QBs do this - as a flattter ball is going to sacrifice downfield accuracy because it is not as round in the air and won't spin as well. But Brady's whole game now is short - 10-15 yards downfield (and he's got the worst deep accuracy in the league this year IIRC - wink wink).
The league already provides some leeway into the pressure in the ball - 2lbs or 2.5lbs as a range. So there is already a way to have a softer or harder ball within the rules
Sports have rules for a reason. It's too bad that Brady can't throw as accurately with a league min 12.5lb ball or whatever it is. It's his own problem that he needs it as 10.5lbs to be as good and accurate as he is. Hey - Geno has small hands - maybe we can deflate the ball to 1lb so he can grip it as tight as a stuffed teddy bear and never fumble it - I mean, EVERYONE is doing it. No big dealy!

Listening to Mike and Mike talk about this is disgusting. Mike Greenberg should just come out as a Pats fan already. What a fucking moron. How did he ever get a job talking about sports?

If anyone has ever thrown an underinflated football you'd know it's easier to throw a spiral for sure. It's easier to throw it accurately. This is cheating at it's finest. Fuck them. BAN!

From Mike and Mike
"Assuming Chris Mortensen’s report is correct. Former NFL referee Gerry Austin was on Mike and Mike this morning and said officials check the PSI of all footballs two hours before the game. At halftime, New England’s footballs (each team has different balls during the game) were found to be two-to-three pounds lighter. Someone deflated the balls. There’s no debate here.
The defenders of New England have been even more laughable than they were during the videotape controversy of 2007. “It doesn’t even help that much!” Sure it doesn’t. That’s why they were doing it. Of course it helps. Deflating gave SparklePony an easier grip on the ball (at least in the first half; there’s [also] question about whether the balls were re-inflated at half time when it was 17-7). It also left Andrew Luck with the harder footballs in the colder weather."

This is the old "Everyone else does it" defense? FF2 used to spout this same shit back during Spygate. Isn't this why Aaron Hernandez should walk? Because all the other gang-bangers shoot people too, they all do it. It's not about anyone, everyone or just one team doing it. It's about being a violation of the rules, which it clearly is. Every team commits holding, they still throw the flag when the team is caught. The Pats were caught deflating 11 of 12 footballs (probably saving one in case they were approached for inspection), so now they should suffer the consequences. This is pure risk/reward type planning done by BB. The 2% chance that he'd get caught doing this was worth the 20% benefit or whatever that he thought he'd gain. He knows the punishment will be crap.

I agree with this. The guy is such an egotistical maniac and control freak that he pushes the edges of everything.
