It's really irrelevant if other teams do it - there is a very clear rule and it's flouting provides a crystal-clear competitive advantage to the team that does it. A flatter ball is also easier to catch, harder to fumble, etc. And I actually don't think so many other QBs do this - as a flattter ball is going to sacrifice downfield accuracy because it is not as round in the air and won't spin as well. But SparklePony's whole game now is short - 10-15 yards downfield (and he's got the worst deep accuracy in the league this year IIRC - wink wink). The league already provides some leeway into the pressure in the ball - 2lbs or 2.5lbs as a range. So there is already a way to have a softer or harder ball within the rulesSports have rules for a reason. It's too bad that SparklePony can't throw as accurately with a league min 12.5lb ball or whatever it is. It's his own problem that he needs it as 10.5lbs to be as good and accurate as he is. Hey - Geno has small hands - maybe we can deflate the ball to 1lb so he can grip it as tight as a stuffed teddy bear and never fumble it - I mean, EVERYONE is doing it. No big dealy! Unreal. This is the old "Everyone else does it" defense? FF2 used to spout this same shit back during Spygate. Isn't this why Aaron Hernandez should walk? Because all the other gang-bangers shoot people too, they all do it. It's not about anyone, everyone or just one team doing it. It's about being a violation of the rules, which it clearly is. Every team commits holding, they still throw the flag when the team is caught. The Flats* were caught deflating 11 of 12 footballs (probably saving one in case they were approached for inspection), so now they should suffer the consequences. This is pure risk/reward type planning done by BB. The 2% chance that he'd get caught doing this was worth the 20% benefit or whatever that he thought he'd gain. He knows the punishment will be crap. Yes. He doesn't give a fuck about the rules, so now Seattle needs to fight fire with fire a TAKE THAT MOTHERFUCKIN HISTORY!! Knock those fuckers right out of the game starting with that bitchass Edelman, and then Gronk, and then Brady. Knock them all out of the game.

I have so much to say but not much time. Will chime in later today. All I will say is this is more evidence of NE's cheating ways. I continue to say that their SB's are tainted. This current playoff run by NE is tainted. You cheat to gain an advantage.
As for the NFL, Goodell has a major probelm on his hands. The "enforcer" already gave NE a pass with Spygate by destroying all evidence before any independent-objective party could review the tapes and determine what the implications were on their 3 SB victories. Once again, remember the backdrop -- MLB< NBA, Olympics were all mired in serious cheating scandals. The NFL was dealing with the Michael Vick dog fighting scandal. No way did the NFl need a blackeye on sport's greatest event (Superbowl). Thus, the destruction of the tapes. Not to hard to reach that conclusion.
Fast forward to now. After a season that saw several scandals involving NFL players and possible team management coupled with the questioning of the Commissioner's credibility on how he handled such events, not to mention Kraft being Goodell's biggest cheerleader during the outcries for his job, Goodell must act to protect the integrity of the game and shield. What that is imo suspension of Belicheat for a year like Sean Peyton; the loss of draft picks including at least #1; and a massive fine to the organization -- at the minimum $5 million.

I love that 11/12 were deflated. You know that scheming prick left one inflated properly incase they needed to swap it out quick if the refs were on to them. He is going to fire the ball boy for missing one.

If the evidence shows an intentional effort to deflate the balls below league minimums (and it certainly appears that is the case) then IMO a reasonable penalty would be:
-A personal fine to Belidick and a suspension starting immediately and running through next year's Super Bowl
-A fine on the Patriots plus a loss of at least the #1 pick in the upcoming draft
-The Patriots are required to pay for a team of auditors selected by a third party appointed by the NFL to audit the Patriots for rule infractions for the next three years
-The Patriots are stripped of all titles for this year. If they win the Super Bowl then no winner is acknowledged by the NFL and no trophy is awarded. They are also prohibited from using NFL intellectual property--including the terms "World Champions" and "Super Bowl"--on rings or other merchandise for this year's game.
That's a heavy set of penalties for what may ultimately have played little role in any of their performance this year (although we don't know that) but this is the second blatant rule violation by the same ownership-management team that has been exposed. Who knows how many other cheating tactics have not been exposed over the past fifteen years that may have played a role in their success over that time period. For those (Patriots fans) who feel like this is a non-issue, it should be pointed out that modifying the balls is one of the few rules in the NFL rulebook that carries a mandatory penalty (of at least $25,000) so the NFL did not intend for violations of this rule to go without stiff punishment.

Just think about the things they HAVEN'T been caught about!
Let that sink in!
In how many other games did a defender not intercept a ball so they could never tell that the Pats had deflated the footballs? Let alone, whatever else they were doing.

There's no question they deflated the balls for the Ravens game. A very CLOSE game.

People keep mentioning that the deflated balls did not change the result. Am I the only one who saw Luck's inaccurate throws and dropped passes by Colts receivers in the first half?
Also, Goodell won't look at it that way. He'll be thinking.... What if it was a close game? Imagine the situation if the Pats won on their final drive? There would be hell to pay and I guarantee Goodell is totally pissed that BB would create a scenario where the credibility of the NFL is questioned.

Bill Cheaterfuck has ruined the integrity of the game....
The Shats are the ''Pete Rose'' of football now.
Ban him Roger. Then Kraft can fire that arrogant piece of shit.
How dare he doe this.
Shame on you. Shame. Shame.

I get the opposite feeling on Goodell - I think he is scrambling to downplay it and do anything he can to sweep it under the rug with as little press as possible. I think he's more "damage control" mode than "WTF did you do, asshole?" mode.
I'd guarantee you the final word will be essentially "It was cold, so the psi in the balls is already lower than at 70 degrees, so it's no big deal, really."
To admit that this team is cheating, AGAIN, would be too much.

Really!? He's forced to deal with this shit AGAIN, and he's not pissed at the arrogant asshole with the HOF QB who felt he needed to cheat to win a home playoff game in January against a heavy underdog dome team?

Yesss, Mark Brunell is talking about what a huge advantage it is. Saying he could grip it much better and throw it farther. Especially in the cold. Bettis also saying he can grip the ball better when running with it. Loving it.
