And now for some Jets football talk for a change : www.ganggreennation.com/2015/1/23/7876797/coach-bowles-geno-has-a-lot-of-talent-promiseNow I don't listen to Mike and Mike (especially considering they're both a couple of douchebags) but these quotes from Bowles (whom they had on that shitshow-of-a-radio-program apparently) on Geno are very interesting : "I've only seen very little of him," Bowles said. "He's got a lot of talent and a lot of promise. Remember, he's only played two years. We're going to get in and look at all the games [on film] and see what he does well. You've got to sit down and talk to him, and get a chance to see him live and in person before I make those kind of conclusions." AND "It won't be fair to say he is or isn't the quarterback," Bowles said of Smith. "Geno, obviously, is a heck of a football player, but there are things we've got to evaluate and judge as a whole team. It's not just Geno. It's everybody. He's the focus because he's the quarterback, but everybody is going to be judged the same way. It's an open slate on everybody coming in."
So in other words, he likes Geno but he's not "married" to him, so to speak.

Exactly what he should be saying right now.

Exactly what he should be saying right now. Absolutely hate Geno! But........ I guess I have to agree. He needs to form his own opinion.

What it means is the Jets are not taking a QB in round 1. They are going to see if they can fix him.

Geno has talent. It's not impossible he turns it around. I hope he does.

Geno has the physical skills. Maybe the light comes on with some new coaching, maybe not. I'm not gonna scream if he is the starting QB for game 1 though. You gotta give the new coaching staff an opportunity to work with him. If they bring in a seasoned vet and he beats out Simms and him I'm not gonna have a stroke.

truth be told Geno IS talented............yes he threw some bad interceptions but I've said this before and I'll say it again...when Geno had good protection his play elevated. Its the one thing that we have seen time and again. Now, when he has the pressure he still has to make better decisions but damn can we get him a line that can protect him and a few people that can catch the freaking ball consistently??!?! I dont think I can put my finger on a QB that we can get to replace him right now that can be successful with a line that can't protect him and receivers who cant get open or consistently catch the damn ball.....just being real....it's NOT all Geno

But that Miami game (and the first half against Green Bay) on the other hand was the best play we've seen at the position since Vinny in '98. I understand why some are already through with him, but I think he should get one more good look with the new staff before we move on.

Russell Wilson had 4 picks against the Packers but his defense and special teams saved his ass and now he's going for super bowl #2. All QB's have bad games. Geno is only entering season three and has shown some positives. I still think we should bring in a veteran to compete with him and draft a QB in the mid rounds to compete with Simms for the #3 job. There aren't any sure things coming out of this draft including the top 2.

I think we have to c what geno can do with the new coaching staff. He does have some talent but has had close to zero weapons thanks to idzik. Plus, we don't really have a choice because there r no good alternatives out there. Stupid idzik screwed this by not drafting a top WR.

Geno has talent. It's not impossible he turns it around. I hope he does. You know why I know (not think, but know) Geno won't turn it around? He still hasn't learned to correct two of his most obvious flaws. One, he drops back too far during a serious pass rush, so if sacked, Geno loses 15-20 yard instead of 5. Second, and this one always gets me off the couch screaming, he insists on trying to throw the ball (instead of tucking it) as he's being sacked.

For Geno's entire career Rex has insisted on QB coaches that are a sack of ass. Let's see how he progresses with someone competent. The two problems you listed are very correctable.

I remember tailgating for the bills game this year. Everybody knew the Harvin trade was a few weeks too late but were curious to see how Geno would be with healthy Decker and Harvin. That was the pro Geno battle cry he doesn't have any weapons right, now we could evaluate him properly. We know how shockingly bad that 1st quarter went. I lost my voice screaming on Cumberland lining up with no DB on him ."look at Cumberland hike the ball nobody's on him ,look at Cumberland how does he not see him?? he's looking right At him throw the ball throw the fucking ball" FUCK!! Before that quarter there was still a good bit of optimism around him after that and rightfully so it was gone. But as bad as he was there he was pretty impressive in Miami, watching that game seeing well thrown balls hitting receivers in in stride, downfield throws where the fuck was this all year?? I think as fans that's what we have to hang are hats on. Just a little bit of optimism came but very little he's not the guy but by default he's gonna have to be the guy there's nobody else Coming.

And you know he won't turn it around because of all the skills and traits a QB possesses, those are two that it's impossible to develop after year 2 - even with a completely new coaching staff?
