A sucky byproduct of today's pervasive political divide is people that I admire and enjoy become insufferable when they succumb to TDS. To the point I can't enjoy an interview because of the all the liberal nonsense. Alec Baldwin is an amazingly talented actor, very funny on SNL (before Trump). Enjoyed his character on 30 rock. But couldn't disagree with him more on politics.

When I do a plumbing job...I don't wrap up the job by giving the homeowner a 15 speech on my political views and speak to them condescendingly about personal choices in their lives. You get these actors that'll hop on a private jet from their 4,000 sqft mansion to lecture us on how I'm destroying the world because I use plastic straws and drive a pickup truck to haul a backhoe. No. You first, Fucky McFuckface. You abandon your Jolly Green Giant sized carbon footprint life first.

Johnny Lydon does butter ads now.
Most everyone “sells out” when given the chance, especially when they get older.

But couldn't disagree with him more on politics. Darrell Hammond was the best Trump impersonator. Hammond was also terrific as Clinton and Gore. I always liked Baldwin even though he seems to be a bit of a scumbag in his personal life. He is very talented. But his anger and resentment really comes out during his Trump impersonation and it ruins it. And that has happened with a lot of political satire lately. I remember Dana Carvey and Will Ferrell. They were hilarious bc they were having fun. Baldwin's energy is just bad.

I think Howard got tired of fighting. She wants to rub elbows and he always wanted to be accepted. So he just put down his sword.

Who fucking cares?
People get older, more mature, wiser, and change the way they think about things than they did when they were 20. Respect their right and move on.

We can’t expect people to stay the same to fill some kind of role for our entertainment. Lenny Bruce would probably be doing reverse mortgage ads.

Imus stayed offensive until the day they were nailing his coffin shut But yeah, most shock jocks "mellow" over time, or die early. Rock stars too. You make millions, or go broke, either way most wind up changing.

All of the Steely Dan talk in another thread got me thinking: The Song Reelin In The Years is cool. However there is one lyric that I have butchered for years....
Your everlasting summer You can see it fading fast So you grab a piece of something That you think is gonna last But you wouldn't know a diamond If you held it in your hand The things you think are precious I can't understand Are you reelin' in the years Stowin' away the time Are you gatherin' up the tears Have you had enough of mine
It sounds nothing like gatherin’ up the tears to me. Sounds more like gatherin’ up the cheese to me.
Kind of like Blinded by the Light
Well she was Blinded by the light Revved up like a deuce Another runner in the night
Sounds like wrecked up like a douche to me...

But with one correction... Mfs DEFINITELY saying "wrapped up like a DOUCHE" and there's no way around that. I think it was there way around the sensor of the time, by claiming they were saying "deuce" I bet they still all get a great chuckle to themselves about that at the secret society meetings

Just had a Seltzer’s Smokehaus 7 smoked ale. Tastes like smoked meat. Fantastic.
