fantasynews.cbssports.com/fantasyfootball/update/25068852/jets-officially-cut-ties-with-embattled-rb-chris-johnsonAs expected, the Jets have declined to exercise the $500,000 option for 2015 on running back Chris Johnson. The embattled running back will become an unrestricted free agent again on March 10, per the team's official website. Johnson signed a two-year, $8 million with the Jets last offseason, but endured an underwhelming season working with Chris Ivory and Bilal Powell. He took 155 handoffs for 663 yards (4.3 yards per carry) and a touchdown, adding 24 catches for 151 yards and another score. He was arrested last month in his hometown of Orlando for open carrying of a firearm, a second-degree misdemeanor. Topics: Chris Johnson, Rumor, New York Jets, NFL So they've officially cut him according to CBS

Sayonara. Probably the least surprising move in the off season!

Thank God!
Most posters, appropriately, rip Idzik for his disastrous draft performance but his veteran signings were just as bad. Our two featured veteran free agents , Michael Vick and Chris Johnson both were "over the hill" and at no point did either of them look like they wanted to be here. This is not just disaster on the field but also a subtle cancer in the locker room.
The fact that he took snaps from Bilal Powell, an obviously more productive, reliable back (and the teams best pass blocking back) I wonder what kind of pressure Idzik put on the coaching to give CJ playing time? So glad the new management team is in place so we can finally be run like an "intelligent franchise"...... Very impressed with the new coaching staff.

That's a fucking reach at best. All you had to say was that they weren't productive, that says it all.

Hi guys.
I did not attack either player personally and it was not meant that way. Idzik refused to bring Cro back for modest money despite the fact that he played hurt all of 2013. Cro had a down year but he busted has always busted his butt on the field and was a great team player. You don't sign him and then give two strangers guaranteed money who act like they could care less if they were here or not? That is a good way to demotivate a team and potentially create rifts in the locker room, That was my point, stupid decisions by Idzik.
Decaf please......

imo chris johnson is getting some undue criticism. yeah he didn't run for a 1000 yadda, yadda, yadda but he was also playing with a complete disaster at qb named geno. geno's performance sets the tone. not having a reliable passing game just wrecks the running game. neither johnson nor ivory were given many great holes to run through. johnson did show some pretty nice flashes of speed. let's give powell his due. he's better than expected but still not a number one rb.
