250k insurance policies. Nothing wrong with that. Can still be cut at a later date.

Pace and Babin are back up plans to a back up plan. Nothing more than insurance entering into free agency and then the draft.

I'm ok with extending both at this time. However, I would speculate that only one of them will be on the opening day roster, likely Pace.

Agree with all insurance policies that could be cashed out later. I do think Pace catches a lot of shit ,he's pretty solid not spectacular but solid. Anyway would love a run at Jason Worilds.hope that's in the cards.

Anybody know what the salary/ cap hit is for these two? According to overthecap.com -- Pace's cap number is at $2.25MM. Babin is at $1.625MM. $125K in dead money for each if they are cut.

The Pace haters are gonna be so upset. Dude has only been one of our most consistent players we gotta cut the guy! Cut! gotta cut!! pace has been a really good player but he doesn't have the speed to cover guys like gronkowski. i'm okay with the move because it's nearly impossible to get the players you want at all of the positions. pace and babin provide depth and they were not signed to big money contracts anyway.

It's not his fault he was asked to cover Gronkowski. Not everyone who has trouble covering that horse's ass should be cut. Guess Seattle's whole team needs to be cut.

And none of that money...other than the bonuses just paid....is guaranteed. So long as these guys are not on the roster for week 1, then the cap hit will only be bonus paid for each....spread over two years I believe ($125K this year, $125K next year for each). The other option this gives the Jets is to cut and resign these guys after week 1. As a vet, their salary is guaranteed only if they're on the week 1 roster. Guys the age of Pace and Babin don't have many options left. If the Jets really want to keep one of these guys as depth or in Babin's case as a pass rushing specialists, I can see the Jets releasing either of them just before the start of the season then signing them back, at an even better contract number, in week 2.
