We finally have a GM and HC that can answer a simple question.
No more....
"We won't get into specifics"
"we won't get into specific player situations"
"we won't discuss any players not on our roster"
"we won't discuss pending free agents"
"suffice it to say"
"we will do what's in the best interest of the team.
"three things, the team, the team and the team"
I came away very impressed with Mac-daddy and Bowles, both are clear football junkies and have no problem answering a question with a well thought out clear answer.
The kings of shirking questions have officially gone, I'm starting to think the reason Rex and Idzik could never give a straight answer was because they didn't have the answers.
One thing is very clear, we have sharp football minds in charge here, I loved how Mac described the scouting process and I loved how Bowles mentioned accountability and belief.
It was just how I liked my pressers, boring but with substance. I don't want to jump the gun but I'm impressed thus far.

Who cares what ole' "Stealacheck" does in NE.....I actually though both Bowles and Mac were tight lipped when it needed to be but honest enough to say it's still too early to make definitive evaluations. They are not allowed to meet with the team yet so honestly what else can they say? I dont think it was planned that they will be more free with information. They were just being honest....and similar btw other coaches...
John Fox said recently about Cutler- "I just got here and barely got a chance to speak with him so I havent fully evaluated if he really sucked or if it was the last coaching staff."
Bowles on Geno- " Geno has the tools but sometimes he gets a little fancy free with the ball and if you want to play on my damn team that shyt aint happening. Hell, I can get a monkey to throw it to the wrong team. I'll make it clear when I get a chance to sit down with him."
I'm paraphrasing of course but you get the idea :-)

You are not allowed to discuss players not on your roster. And pending FAs from another team. They are definatly are a different breed though. It's dry football, direct answers to the questions whenever possible. None of the free flowing diarrhea that sometimes oozed out of Rex's mouth. Of of course none of this means squat, there is nothing to prove that this will lead to a single extra win at this point. We we can hope though

I especially liked Bowles' answer to questions about the Patriots, saying you can't beat them in February and that it doesn't mean anything to beat the Pats and lose to everyone else. Unlike our former coach, who was still talking about the Patriots yesterday.
Also, you don't hear Bowles saying, "Let me tell you this," or, "I can say that much," and other such fillers that are the staples of Rex's talk. These are the types of things that people say to buy time, while their unconscious mind frantically searches for something to say.
