Idzik was incredibly cheap all off-season, do you think he had ANY desire to negotiate a contract with Revis? HELL no, he probably never even returned Revis' agent's phone calls.

How is this bogus? Even Schefter has said it will come down to the Pats and Jets.

I wonder what some of these creative ideas are? Hiring a plane and flying over his house and dropping money from the sky? Coach Bowles to get a tat of semi-clad Mrs Bowles wearing a Revis jersey.

How is this bogus? Even Schefter has said it will come down to the Flats* and Jets. What I mean is that I don't believe the Jets are truly going after Revis when they could easily get Cro back instead. EDIT : Unless Cro re-signed with the Cards and I wasn't paying attention.

They could get Cro and Revis I don't believe that the Jets are chasing Cro, Culliver, House, etc to be the #1 guy here. I think their plan is to try their damnedest to land Revis and a #2 guy to compliment him.

Forget the fact he has a ring with the cheaters that he will shove in our faces.....His penchant for being a whiny douche and holding out for more money should give ANY GM Pause.....

Yeah Every indication is that they're willing to deal with him. Schefter, Rapaport, La Canfora, etc have all stated that the Jets will throw the bank at Revis if the Flats* can't come to an agreement before 4:00 PM tomorrow. Bowles sat right beside Maccagnan at that introductory press conference and flatout said that CB's are vital to me operating my defense the way I want to. Revis is still arguably the best CB in the league and the Jets have the cap flexibility to appease him. And I could care less about him winning a ring with the Flats*.

I expect Revis to use the Jets to get every penny he can from the Pats. He'll leverage the Jets to get the Pats to up their offer. The Pats won't come up to the Jets level, but they will increase their offer and then Revis will leave money on the table to take the Pats best offer.
If I am wrong and Revis takes the Jets money, I think he'll be the only CB they sign with the expectation that they can get 2nd CB play out of the combo of Milliner, McDougle, draft picks, etc. They can't allocate too much of the cap to the CB position, so if they give Revis 15 mil + for several years, its not practical to spend another 6,7, 8 mill per year on a second CB. Rather spend that money on oline, pass rusher, safety, Wilkerson, Richardson (next year) and all around depth.

If that's truly the case, I am very disappointed in this decision. It would be a very bitter pill to swallow, maybe not for you but for me and others that can't ignore the FACT that he has a ring with the Cheaters. Okay then. Just get Cro back and sign Culliver or something. Get CB's that won't ask for the MOON and actually hold out to get it. *sigh* I really hope those reports are incorrect and they are just the opinions of what those media people THINK will happen....

By getting creative maybe they are going to offer him a 3 year fully gteed contract so they don't have to deal with the inevitable holdouts once the front loaded money runs out?

I'm calling it. 3 years $48 million fully guaranteed. $16 million per year, no signing bonus. Similar to what they did with Harris.

Thats around what I thought, but they'll stick a signing bonus in there as well...lets say $10mn...so it averages up his all in on the deal to close to the $20mn that he was supposed to get paid this year.

Ian Rapoport @rapsheet · 7h 7 hours ago FYI: #Jets can actually begin talking to Revis when the #Patriots officially decline the $20M option to the league. Hasn’t happened yet
