People are looking at this trade all wrong. Here are the details of the trade:
Eagles get: Kiko Alonso
Bills get: LeSean McCoy $10 million cap hit A player who now wants an extension and has all the leverage in the world.
People saying the Bills are dealing from a position of strength are wrong. Their starting linebackers right now are Preston Brown and Nigel Bradham. That's it. Alonso is gone, Spikes is a FA. They are now very weak and inexperienced at LB. Before the trade they had $31 million in cap space and roughly $26 million of that was available to spend on FA's ($5 million reserved for draft). After the trade they have $16 million in cap space. They need at least 1 starting Guard, maybe 2 if Incognito doesn't work out, a starting RT, starting SS, starting OLB and ILB. Not to mention a veteran QB that is sure to take up at least $4 million of their cap space this year. Even if they give McCoy a new deal I doubt he takes less then the $10 million he's supposed to make this year. He's 2 years removed from a 5 year $45 million contract with $20 million guaranteed. He's still owed $25 million in base salary over the next 3 years which is just over $8 million per year. I think he'll ask for $10 million per year and meet in the middle. So if they give him the same contract he got 2 years ago there is no way he takes a pay cut this year from what he was expecting to get paid. And McCoy doesn't really fit their power running scheme. I think the Bills are doing everything they can to continue to make splashes all for the sake of publicity. Rex, now LeSean. What's next? Tebow?

McCoy's best years are behind him. Kinko's are in front of him. That's really the bottom line of this trade, a typical Rex move. Great trade by fellow Jets fan Howie Roseman. McCoy is 26 years old I'd love to be hearing Philly sports radio right now. The announcers all call him " Shady" when talking to him, like he's their BFF/brother So a bit of a Dez situation then?

Say what you want but those are some quality offensive weapons. Shady, Watkins & Woods. All great ages too.
Fully expect Rex to go after Jay Cutler now. Lol

Lol Well I guess we will get to see if he can make it work. It's like a fuckin bizarro Jets alternate reality team with different colors. I predict they will fail miserably after starting strong and gimmicky.

Lol Bills have had some good offensive weapons for a few years. Their problem has been the guy pulling the trigger. I think this trade is either going to be the greatest thing ever for the Bills or its going to be an absolute bust. All or nothing. Rex Ryan in a nutshell.

To me you put a Rex Ryan led defense with arguably the best RB he has ever had and you can bank on Rex and the Bills being a problem in the AFC East for the next few years. I'm still not convinced Geno is better than Manuel so he may in fact have a better situation at QB already without improving the position.

This trade was so good for Eagles. First they got rid of McCoy who was going to make 10.5 M this year and second, Alonso allowed them to cut Trent Cole who they were not having any success in trying to negotiate a restructure. Saves them 17 million in cap space, and you have one of deepest RB classes we have seen in a while.

Instead of trying to figure a solution to their biggest headache QB, Rex is enthralled with signing washed up bully boy guards and trading for RB's. The man is a disaster.

McCoy might put up a couple of 1200 yard seasons over the next 3-4 years, but I'll take the impact defender with a knack for making the big play. And as you said, this is one of the deepest RB classes in recent memory. The Eagles can take a Gordon or Gurley at #20 or pick up someone like Abdullah in the 2nd, plug them into Chip's system right away and not lose a beat.

Whats funny is that they could have probably worked out a deal with Spiller that would cost them half as much as McCoy is going to cost them. Is McCoy really worth double what Spiller is right now? I don't think so.
