This Rivers to Tennnessee rumor...some guy actually called into a local sports radio show here yesterday and said it happened. Host said bullsht nd I didnt even bother mentioning it. Now today PFT speculating that Tenneseee...hmmm:
Of course, the Chargers could use the franchise tag to keep Rivers around for another year. At his 2015 cap number of $17.416 million, it would cost $20.9 million to keep him with the team for 2016.
And there’s still a chance he’s not on the team in 2015. Via Acee, G.M. Tom Telesco declined to rule out a trade of Rivers.
“I don’t like Philip as our QB, I love him,” was the most Telesco would say. “And I’ll go to war with him.”
That could be interpreted as a response more clear than “no trade,” but Telesco still didn’t directly rule out a trade. Which means that, whether Telesco wants it or not, he soon could be hearing from teams that may be interested in acquiring Rivers.
Maybe, say, the Titans. They hold the second pick in the draft and their head coach, Ken Whisenhunt, coordinated the San Diego offense in 2013.

Uh. What would it take to get Rivers? Here's the thing. Rivers is not moving his family to another city. For those unaware, he's got a bunch of kids and his family is far more important to him than football. He is waiting to negotiate a new deal until it is known that the Chargers are staying in SD rather than moving to LA. He is on the record saying if the Chargers move to LA, he will not sign with the Chargers. So, if he won't move his family two and half hours up I-5, why would he move to another part of the country?

Unless he retires it doesn't make sense....LA would still be his closest option of any NFL team if he wants to stay in San Diego.

I don't know if he's planning to live in SD for eternity, as much as he clearly does not want to live in LA. That much was obvious. When his career is over, he'll be moving back to bama, or Carolina or some other backwards state... like near TEN?

Bringing him in doesn't mean they won't draft one. It's good to try to fill as many holes as possible prior to the draft so you can draft best player available. And maybe they want to take a QB at 6 or an OLB at 6. Bringing in Moore means you don't have to force a pick in the 2nd-4th rounds just to fill a hole. It's smart and he'll be cheap.

More costly than Brees? The 6th pick is pretty valuable. What else? a very good QB but I wouldn't give up a 1st unless we trade down and get clevelands 2 picks. Then I would trade #19 for Rivers and draft an edge rusher with #12. RB with the 2nd and tackle with the 3rd and a wide receiver like Dorsett in the 4th. This would solidfy our offense. You're crazy if you think Dorsett will still be available in the 4th. He's a fringe first-rounder, and rising. Otherwise, I agree with you. Ray, Gregory or Beasley should be on the board at 12.

He could live in Carlsbad with an apartment in LA, and drive down to hang out at Tokyo's sweet pad when he got bored.

Got to say that's an interesting take on Dorsett...I know he is fast but what makes you think he is a fringe 1st rounder? I would also be shocked if Ray or Beasley were there at 12. I was thinking more like Dupree... I would stay away from Gregory.
