Just looking at out moves so far and I am trying to read into them as far as possible draft strategy (even though I admittedly don't know what they'll do come draft day). My thoughts:
1) Based on what we've spent (and are trying to spend) on the secondary, I'm assuming the FO knew this was an area of major need and since this was projected to be a weak secondary class, they decided to take care of our needs via FA. With McDougle coming back and having drafted Pryor last year, I doubt we see any DBs drafted. Milliner is an unknown at this point and can't be factored in.
2) Some said that keeping Pace & Babin was merely a "place holder" act until FA and the draft ended. I agree. I haven't heard of us looking to bring in any pass rushers in FA. Yes, we have Reilly and IK from last year, but it's looking like we may address this early in the draft.
3) Trading for Marshall was a no-brainer. Without a doubt Marshall, Decker and Kerley are our 1-3 WRs. Evans and Enunwa will probably get a chance in camp at the #4 spot. One thing we're missing is that "blow the top off the D" WR. We have a lot of strong possession guys. I can see us taking a burner in the mid-rounds this year. I don't think we'll go WR at #6 even though I love White.
4) While rumors were that we'd go hard for Spiller, I don't believe he's been in to visit. We re-signed Powell and have Richardson. It's a strong draft for RBs. I think we'll see one taken in the first half of the draft as well.
5) O-line was an issue last year. We signed Carpenter. We still have a bunch of young guys in Aboushi, Dozier, Winters and Freeman. I think Aboushi will get moved back to OT given the amount of guards we have. Could go OT later.
6) If we go 3-4, we need depth at ILB. We re-signed Harris and have Davis but we're scary thin after that. No rumors of us talking to any LBs at this point. Expect us to address in the draft.
7) QB - (sigh). Trading for Fitz is ok with me. Didn't cost much and he's had success with Gailey. Still hope the light goes on for Geno but who knows. Will be verrrrrrryyy interesting if Mariota is there at 6. If he is, unless someone blows us away with a trade, I think we need to take him. The wildcard is if the front office has fallen in love with another QB they could take later.
IMO, as of today, our draft priorities are:
OLB
ILB
RB
QB
WR (speed)
OL
