I was just going to start a thread about this. I was stunned when I read it. How is this even possible, especially given his injury status?
The New York Daily News' Manish Mehta reports teams have asked the Jets about Dee Milliner's trade availability.
Mehta didn't specify which teams had inquired, but it makes sense given the Jets' recent upgrades. The new regime also didn't draft Milliner. The Jets don't seem to be actively shopping the former No. 9 overall pick, who is still recovering from a torn Achilles' he suffered in October, but their ears are open. Mehta pointed out that Milliner could still be of value to Gang Green, as coach Todd Bowles used a lineup featuring six or more defensive backs for 619 snaps last season.

Why would you sell low on Milliner right now? No reason to trade him on the cheap.

Why would you sell low on Milliner right now? No reason to trade him on the cheap. Ding Ding Ding...we have a winner! Millner and McDougle remain very low cost mysteries. We don't *NEED* them to succeed (like last year), but it is not cheap and safe to see what they are capable of if healthy. Why give that opportunity away to another team?

Why would you sell low on Milliner right now? No reason to trade him on the cheap. Exactly If he comes back healthy, then our CB depth is batshit insane. I'm not giving up on the kid yet. He was showing flashes of being a damn good player before the achilles. Besides, Cro is just one year removed from looking totally done.

Plus you still control Milliner for three more years at a low cost.

The only time Milliner showed signs of being a good CB was after Rex brought in Ed Reed. Once Reed was in, Milliner started to play MUCH better to the point where he was actually highlighted as the defensive player of the month or something like that. Having a vet out there and in practice to help coach this kid made a difference apparently. Now that Cro and Revis are back, Milliner can watch and learn and occasionally get out on the field with one or both once his achilles heals (achilles can take longer than one year before returning to normalcy).
No way do we trade him for a mid/low round pick at this point. He doesn't cost much and has very good potential. I'd like to see what a real coach (Bowles) can do instead of a big mouth who doesn't do great developing players (Rex).
If someone wants Milliner that bad, then send at least a 2nd rounder. Otherwise, no deal!

What are we gonna get, a conditional pick that ends up being 5th-6th in 2016, if he has productive year? No thanks. Let him comeback when he is 100% ready, learn from the master, and play with very little pressure for the next couple of years.

Him having a chance to learn from Revis and Cro for a year or 2 is an added bonus.

I love the way the FO is handling players and depth. They want to build on the draft (including players drafter by the previous FOs), but instead of throwing 6 rookies on the defense, they are also building a team of Vets to field until the rookies are ready. Milliner was starting to really play well towards the end of the previous year. Now we have 2 young and relatively cheap players who can take their time to heal properly; even if Milliner is IR this year as well, we have no rush. In the next couple of years, these two can push to be starters - just around the time when the guaranteed salary is gone for 2 out of 3 CBs. Let the vets play until the younger kids push them out; have depth, and if someone needs to come in due to an injury, he is at least surrounded by other vets to help cover.
Last year, a safety playing CB for the first time was thrown in surrounded by scrubs. Can't imagine why they didn't work.

We're in no position where we have to rush him back. Let the kid get healthy I'm not giving him away for pennies on the dollar.

Ha ha I wonder if one of the teams was the Pats. Cornerback market must be pretty thin now
