Dee has 3 years left on his current contract. Considering how costly it's been to upgrade the secondary to a quality level, I wouldn't rush to take a 5th-6th round pick on a legit 1st round talent like Milliner. As a 2013 9th pick...he's cheaper then the situational-niche DBs that Jets just picked up.
Let it play out and see how he performs this year. It ain't easy for a skill position player to come back healthy the very next year after blowing out an Achilles. You may have to wait til 2016 to find out if he's fully recovered from that type of injury. And if he is healthy in 2016. Then Milliner can still end up playing through a second contract as a NYJ #1 or #2 corner. Cause he has the tools to do just that.

Mr Overbite was showing some serious shut down skills. I wouldn't trade him at all. There's no reason to in the least bit. If anything this is a luxury because you get him packaged with Revis and a strength coach to work out his muscular imbalances from improper weight lifting (I believe this to be the cause to most people's injuries) and let him perfect his craft that way.

It would have been stupid to rely on him for 2015 which we aren't based on what we did FA. And now it would be stupid to pull the plug when we can just wait and see.
If someone if offering a 3rd that could improve to a 2nd I will listen but I am dumping him for a 6th rounder when we are playing with house money.

Nothing to worry about. With the way Bowles covets CBs now way we deal him for pennies. Let him heal and watch the GOAT in action

No matter, we have THE TRUTH, Dexter McDougle, as a backup.

The only time Milliner showed signs of being a good CB was after Rex brought in Ed Reed. Once Reed was in, Milliner started to play MUCH better to the point where he was actually highlighted as the defensive player of the month or something like that. Having a vet out there and in practice to help coach this kid made a difference apparently. Now that Cro and Revis are back, Milliner can watch and learn and occasionally get out on the field with one or both once his achilles heals (achilles can take longer than one year before returning to normalcy). No way do we trade him for a mid/low round pick at this point. He doesn't cost much and has very good potential. I'd like to see what a real coach (Bowles) can do instead of a big mouth who doesn't do great developing players (Rex). If someone wants Milliner that bad, then send at least a 2nd rounder. Otherwise, no deal! imo that's the extra dividend the jets are getting by bringing revis and cromartrie back. when milliner last played cro was nursing an injury so of course he thought he was the best guy on the field. now he has some serious competition at the corner spot. and if skrine is any good we may not see him until november. but that's good too because it's going to take him quite some time before his legs comes back to full strength. in the meantime, mcdougle should be on the field and we'll see what he's got. imo the corner spot the jets are in great shape for the next 3 seasons. if milliner and mcdougle work out then they will be set for a decade.

Why would you sell low on Milliner right now? No reason to trade him on the cheap. That's also why teams are inquiring, though. An astute GM sees a team that brought in an entirely new regime go out and sign 3 cornerbacks. That seems like an opportunity for a low risk-high reward acquisition. New management is often willing to part with people that aren't "their guys."

I agree with you, if they want him they have to pay up.

it's Manish, so who the fuck knows if there's even an ounce of truth to these reports.
it's probably something he threw out there as a setup. then on draft day when the Jets miss out on a "coveted" player he'll say something like, "the Jets could've drafted XYZ in the 4th round, but they opted to keep disappointing and oft-injured prospect Milliner despite spending over $100 million in revamping their secondary."

Look at the way injuries altered the Jets CB plans last season. No way you trade Milliner. The Jets are 2 injuries to the top 3 from both Milliner and McDougle having starting roles.

Kind of avoided this question. Interesting.. Kind of a hard question to answer straight up - you say no and you alienate the guy and basically have to ship him off. You say yes and look like a dickhead if he gets traded off. Pretty PC answer.

Kind of avoided this question. Interesting.. If someone asks that question, they have to realize there is a fair chance the response will be non-committal. He has to answer it that way. He's a new guy coming in to help rebuild this organization. Everything is non-committal at this stage.

Odds are that Dee will be unable to perform by opening day, but no one including Mac. can predict for sure one way or the other.
