Well below average is a bit of an overstatement in my opinion. And to say that DBrick and Mangold "might be average" is lunacy. Mangold is still top 10 at his position in the league and DBrick is still one of the best pass protection LT's in the league. Carpenter has given up 1 sack in his last 23 games or some crazy number like that, he's not a great run blocker though. But in Gailey's offense pass protection is much more important b/c of the spread offense they will use. This is NOT a ground and pound offense anymore. The year Spiller put up 1200 yards with Gailey there offensive line was average. They had Levitre as their only above average starter on the line and started a rookie 2nd round pick as their LT. His offensive system will make the entire O-line look better b/c of it's quick throwing nature and it spreads teams out which naturally allows more room to run for the backs. I'm not too concerned about the O-line at all right now. I'm more concerned about finding a HB in the draft since at this point at the end of 2015 the Jets will have no HB's under contract.
i like what bowles recently said about genot being the qb because there is no one else right now. hopefully genot takes this as a signal that he needs to improve instead of one where the coach is out to get him. imo they still need to take mariota if he's available. the timing is good and if he's half as good as people think he'll be better than genot and fitz. of course the downside is when genot stinks it up the fans will call for mariota very quickly.
