God...the Bears are so royally screwed with that Cutler contract....lolzer! It's crazy. It makes Tanny look conservative.

I would not be against us taking Mariota if he fell to us at #6 but only if we were willing to sit his ass and let him learn. I like a lot about his game and think he has potential. But I would also not be upset if he was gone by the time we pick. There are several guys who could fall to us that I would love to see us select, like Fowler, Ray or Beasley. But I don't think there is much of a chance of us being able to fleece a trade partner who wants to move up for Mariota like Cleveland, St. Louis, or Philly. IF anyone is so sold on Mariota that they are willing to get fleeced, I can't see them waiting for a QB needy team like the Jets to trade with. Any team that wants him badly has to fear that we might take him. So if they are willing to be fleeced, why not move ahead of us? Now if a team was willing to get fleeced, I would be all on. But I just don't see it happening. Damn, I love this time of year. I think about the draft and hockey constantly! i think the jets need to see how they will ever get in the position to get the no. 6 or higher pick again. both bowles and mccagnan don't seem to be the guys who want to finish this low again so this may the best opportunity to get a highly rated qb. and what do the future qb prospects look like? imo mariota will have to sit for some time before being an effective starter. and, of course, this assumes genot continues to underwhelm. genot turns his game around then the search is over.

I would be suprised if Mariota drops to 6, too many teams appear to be interested. A la SAR, I've never seen the guy play, but I've read a lot reports saying he's not NFL ready, a project, only 5% of his snaps were from under center....etc,etc I wouldn't be surprised if he drops big time.

It's amazing how much rides on the Titans pick. Their selection or what they decide to do with that pick will set the pace for the rest of the draft. They are the domino.

You may be right but in my opinion he is gone before 6. I would prefer Cooper at 6 if he is there.

the problem here is this, anyone trading for cutler has to take on that contract knowing that his attitude sucks and he has been inconsistent. He actually has never been a winner on any level. So you're asking a team to give up on a good prospect for a known loser? PLUS pay him a boatload of money? probably not happening.....

If there was a suitor, the Bears could work something out to hold onto part of his contract, couldn't they? I'm not sure (someone please correct me if I'm wrong), but I think this is a baseball thing and doesn't apply in football. I think the Bears are on the hook for the guaranteed money they owe him and the other team has to pick up Cutler's contract as is unless they can rework a deal.
