ESPN's Ron Jaworski cites sources saying Oregon QB Marcus Mariota will be the No. 1 pick by the Bucs.
"...You're starting to see, in my opinion, Winston's stock starting to slide a little bit and Mariota's stock starting to go up a little bit," Jaworski said, noting it might be due to coaches joining the draft process. Jaws went on to discuss how much Chip Kelly loves Mariota, saying the quarterback will win multiple super bowls in the NFL no matter where he lands. We have remained steadfast in saying Mariota absolutely has a shot at being the No. 1 pick, especially with the Glazer family having final say.

I don't believe anything Jaws says
I know a guy at ESPN that has told me on many occasions Jaws' only job is to stir the pot.....he throws shit out there to get a reaction

It's just a smokescreen. Jameis is going to Tampa. It's probably the worst-kept secret in the NFL right now.

Wouldn't shock me at all
Dirk Koetter and Mark Helfrich have had a tight relationship for almost 20 years, so I'm sure Helfrich has given him and the rest of the Bucs organization plenty of info on Mariota.
I'm not sure why so many are acting like Winston is head and shoulders above Mariota either. I don't really care if Winston is more "pro-ready" if I have to constantly worry about the kid getting into trouble and doing stupid shit off the field. Especially in New York of all places.
Mariota's character is impeccable and his work ethic and love for the game are supposedly second to none.
He's got some great physical characteristics and elite intangibles. He's also very coachable and can throw on the run better than any prospect I've seen in years. Doesn't get nearly enough credit for going through his progressions either.

Winston is not the slam dunk prospect some make him out to be. Mariota has a very large upside(Winston does as well). They are completely different QBs. Some may like Mariota's athletic ability and high character more than what Winston provides. It would not shock me at all if it were true. I still think Winston is the pick, but I don't think it's out of the question Mariota goes 1.

if mariotta goes 1, does tennessee automatically take winston? They MIGHT end up taking him, but not after putting up a big FOR SALE sign for 10 minutes when their pick comes up.

NFL news right now is inherently unreliable. The teams are leaking information to screw with each other. Teams are bringing in draftees for work outs both to see what they can do and to confuse other teams. The draftees have their agents spreading information trying to improve their draft stock. The media outlets want to stir the pot to get ratings up. If this isn't media fabrication then it's very likely Mariota's agent trying to raise Mariota's stock.

What's so funny? Mariota is a pretty talented kid and not the type you bet against. And if a guy that is known for being a QB guru says that then you should take it seriously. I honestly don't think Jaws is messing around here. There have been other reports that the bucs are weary of Winston's off the field stuff anyway.

I have a buddy who works in the Bucs organization, and the rumor is that the ownership is just about completely sold on Winston. They love his talent and the marketing impact he would make by attracting local FSU fans to the home games. It would take an epic offer to even consider a trade-down.

Any team that drafts Winston will be seeing his name in the headlines. The headlines will not be football related, and will relate to criminal behavior, and arrests. I'm skeptical of Mariota also, but not for the same reason. However, in the off chance Mariota is there at 6, you have to draft the guy.

I hope for his sake that Winston cleans up his act and has a good long pro career as long as he loses when ever the Jets play against him. We can only hope he has learned his lesson during his issue in college.
