I understand the desire to land a franchise QB for a new regime. Look at Rex; He had a highly regarded prospect in Kellen Clemens, but he went out and moved up the draft board to land Mark Sanchez. This regime will be no different. The problem with this thinking is obvious: What if, in the first year of your regime, there just isn't a QB worth getting? IMO, this is where a new regime has to roll the dice on their own future, and have the stones to say "there just isn't anyone worth it this year, so lets have a solid draft at other positions." Imagine, if the Jets did this, picked up some great players, moved around a little bit to pick up some picks (easily done when you are picking near the top in each of the first 4 rounds), and then go all-in next year on Connor Cook, Christian Hackenberg, Dak Prescott, or any other QB they deem franchise worthy.

If Cooper is on the board at #6 I'll be rubbing my genitals with a fervor until I hear, "With the #6 pick in the 2015 draft the New York Jets select [INSERT SHITTY PLAYER HERE]." That's when my fervor will turn into a furor.

BTW, I'd rather have Cooper than Mariota. Don't want Mariota or Winston. Yeah, I'm crazy. I've also been right about every one of these "sure thing" QB stars, especially the USC ones. I'd be perfectly content if the Jets never draft another player from USC ever again. Fuck those socal pussies. i'm okay with dissing the usc qb's. oregon? one up (fouts) and one down (harrington). Mariota has a high enough pre-draft grade and enough separation from the next group to indicate some really high potential. Kellen Clemens played at Oregon

Yes, in hindsight Kellen Clemens did not work out....he was highly regarded by many analysts before being yet another failed Jet prospect.
