Amaro: Mouth has no discipline, has no business talking trash about performance last year. Colon: Guy is a lightning rod for penalties and fights on the field. Cromartie: Too many kids to remember by name. Namath: Drunk, loose cannon that shits on the team at every turn. Not exactly guys I consider disciplined or paying attention to detail. I have no doubt that there were some accountability and discipline issues last year but Joe isn't quite the best source to be criticizing people on that front. The guy walked out of a Manhattan hotel hungover with a hot blonde on the morning of the AFC Championship game in 1969. The guys with the opinions that are the most trustworthy don't share them.

LOL So in other words, there's no way that Rex was the culprit behind the lack of discipline...despite everything we know about Rex. No I'm just saying these guys are not offering up the best support for what went on. I think Davis is a better indicator as he seemed to be one of Rex's guys.

And what did Davis say about Rex, rexneffect? I believe they are referring to Davis' in season comment that they were not practicing like champions (he also said he needed to do better and lumped himself in with that remark- earned some respect in my book for doing that).

FYI, Amaro responded to Rex responding profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2015/04/29/jace-amaro-responds-to-rex-ryans-repeated-responses/Jets tight end Jace Amaro, who has been an unlikely center of the storm this offseason after comments critical of his previous coach and Ryan’s repeated replies, said he’s not bracing for a fight. “That’s the way he is, I guess,” Amaro said of the now-Bills coach, via Brian Costello of the New York Post. Amaro got the ball rolling this offseason by saying Ryan’s Jets weren’t as accountable, a claim that’s been backed up by other teammates since. “To be honest with you, I really wasn’t worried about it,” Amaro said. “I had no intention of attacking anybody, especially Rex. I have the utmost respect for the guy. He gave me a chance to play in this league before anybody else. That’s an everlasting thank you to him. . . . “It just feels like he’s [new coach Todd Bowles] a lot more intact. It feels like he’s ready to go as a first-year guy. I think everyone’s excited about it. There’s a lot of energy around here. A lot of guys are working extra hard, doing extra things. I think that’s really the bottom line. He expects a lot from us.” Of course, we now expect a reply from Ryan in 3, … 2, … 1, …

the thing about namath is that he was playing in a time of upheaval in the nfl. the merger didn't exactly make things smooth and then there ws a player strike in 72 or 73. add to that his injuries and it's almost amazing he played effectively for as long as he did. namath ought to know bad coaches since he played for charlie winner (not) and holtzman as well as a couple of interim coaches. bad times for the jets.

I feel like if the QB continues to turn the ball over all the time, and runs 10-yards back whenever he gets pressured, it's only natural for the coach and the team to quit. There's only so much frustration these guys can endure at the QB position before they become apathetic. I know I felt it some as a fan. Here's to it not happening this year.

It's funny to hear Namath talking about discipline after he sexually harassed that reporter on Monday night football. As far as Rex, he was a much better coach when he was allowed to eat as much as he wanted. Eating with a lap-band probably frustrated him immensely. Sexually harassed? Grab a dictionary

So that's.... Amaro Colon Cro Davis Namath. All can't be wrong. You really want Amaro, Colon, Cro and Namath to be your advocates for discipline and attention to detail? And the reason you wouldn't want this group of players to be advocates?

Coach Holtzman went from a great Knicks coach to a Jets coach? Lol

Amaro lacks discipline? All Namath does is shit on this team? Are you kidding? Cro has kids so he can't talk either? Does the part where none of this has anything to do with players knowing what there coach is or isn't mean anything to you when you post or are you blindly defending your undisciplined guy

Joe Klecko's take on Rex, from Serby in todays NY Post. Pretty much nails what my (and many others here) take has been.
“I think Wilkerson will be a different player under Todd Bowles, I really do,” he said.
Asked why, Klecko said: “Professional football players today, if you let them run wild … you give ’em an inch, they’ll take a mile. I don’t think Todd Bowles is gonna give ’em an inch. I think Todd Bowles is gonna make ’em toe the line.
“Rex was a loosey-goosey guy, people loved playing for Rex because, what the hell? He’s like a father that allowed you to do whatever you wanted. These guys are gonna be a little more disciplined, and that’s gonna be a good thing.”
Klecko would like to see more intensity from Wilkerson.
