And what did Davis say about Rex, rexneffect? I believe they are referring to Davis' in season comment that they were not practicing like champions (he also said he needed to do better and lumped himself in with that remark- earned some respect in my book for doing that). Which is a knock on the players, not the coach.

Which is a knock on the players, not the coach. Of course its a knock on the players, but its also absolutely a knock on Rex for accepting less than 100% effort and discipline, which is the whole point and at the heart of what Klecko said; Football is a tough game physically and mentally when played at a high, championship level. All things being equal, a team coached by a guy who demands and accepts nothing less than 100%, will prevail over a "players coach" whom everyone loves in the lockeroom.

I agree that ultimately the HC has to be held responsible. I'm just saying when Davis said what he did about the way players were practicing he was pointing his finger and the players. To some degree he's right. A coach can hold certain players accountable and there are players who you can't get to,money have to give an effort on their own. Put those players on a tea run by a lax HC like Ryan and it's a recipe for disaster. Ive vey always felt that a demanding, hard assed HC can dial it back and take it down a notch from time to time but an easy going, best friend, player HC can't turn it up when he needs to, it's too late at that point.

Joe Klecko's take on Rex, from Serby in todays NY Post. Pretty much nails what my (and many others here) take has been. “I think Wilkerson will be a different player under Todd Bowles, I really do,” he said.
Asked why, Klecko said: “Professional football players today, if you let them run wild … you give ’em an inch, they’ll take a mile. I don’t think Todd Bowles is gonna give ’em an inch. I think Todd Bowles is gonna make ’em toe the line.
“Rex was a loosey-goosey guy, people loved playing for Rex because, what the hell? He’s like a father that allowed you to do whatever you wanted. These guys are gonna be a little more disciplined, and that’s gonna be a good thing.”
Klecko would like to see more intensity from Wilkerson.
Would love to hear Rex's response to this one "Fuck that Joe Klecko guy, what does he know? Now, if it was Ron Faurot..."

Which is a knock on the players, not the coach. To a degree, but Rex was busy saying how practice was great and Davis seemed to contradict that. I think that was the issue it seemed like Davis had to come down hard, when really the coach should know how lay down the law when needed.
