Not saying he'll pan out, but can't really knock the value here for a 7th rounder. That's definitely worth a flier on him IMO. Also believe Bowles has some familiarity with him and likes his game to a certain extent, coming from the NFC West.

What's so awful about 3.9 YPC? Do it three times and you've got a first down or in Blair Thomas's case do it 1000 times and you've got a career.

Let's see him come in and compete. We have a whole lot of average to slightly above average RBs....but there's no Top 20 RB on this team. I'm not knocking Ivory but he is a low...1B type starting RB. Not that Zac Stacy solves that problem but with Ivory's injury history I like having him here. Also, Ivory's contract expires at the end of this season. I think we're in the RB market again early in next year's Draft. Exactly. With Ridley's availability date a question mark, Stacy provides better insurance for Ivory than Powell and has also been pretty effective catching the ball out of the backfield. He's no speedster, but maybe he could play the LT role from a few years ago.

293 yds in 13 games last year...'Yikes' He still had 3.9 YPC I believe. If he makes the team he'll rotate with Ivory and Powell.

In all fairness to Stacy, let's not forget what the Rams QB situation has been the past 2 seasons and more importantly, who his O-coordinator was.

People need to remember that with Chan Gailey the Jets will be in spread formations often. IF you go to a spread with 3 WR and a sngle RB, ideally you want a big, nimble back with decent hands because D has lots of DB's on the field. With less big bodies on the field the DB's have a difficult time bringing him down. I'm not sure how many of you might remember, but think Gary Brown. He was the perfect storm when he was named starting RB in Houston halfway through the 1993 season.
Stacy has the same types of skills. IMO he has a "chance" to excel as the single back in spread formations.

Stacy is 224 lbs. You can see in his highlights he is thick. Brown is barely over 5'10" and played at 230 lbs. So 2 inches taller and only 6 lbs heavier. So, I'll stand by my assessment that Stacy is big when it comes to a RB. And Stacy is, as a matter of fact, the heaviest RB on the Jets' roster. I would note that Stephen Ridley at 5"11" 220 lbs also fits the mold as the type of single back who could excel in a spread offense. Coincidence? I think not.
