The Jets have added a LOT of players in just the past two months between Free Agency and the Draft, but let's not forget the large crop of players brought here last year. While many have departed (one way or another) there are still several players that appear to be potential diamonds in the rough. Whether due to injury (WR Shaq Evans, CB McDougal) or being immediately put on a developmental path (OT/OG Dozier, WR Enunwa), the Jets have these guys on the current roster.
Who do you think is the most valuable? Who should stay and who should go? Several positions including OG and WR have become very crowded recently and the re-signing of Pace, Babin and the addition of Lorenzo Mauldin may have implications for guys like Trevor Reilly and IK Enempali. Thoughts?

everyone you listed has a lot of value. each of those players currently have a lot of competition but also leadership beside them. we may be counting on a guy like Evans or McDougal when Marshall and Cromartie inevitably slow down in a year or two. we may be counting on a guy like Dozier if Winters continues to shit the bed and we realize we still don't really have a starting RG. these players are not to be forgotten. if Dex and Dozier earn playing time given the crowded positions then we'll be in great shape.

If we can go into the season with 6 players from the 2014 draft on our roster, I wouldn't complain.
Pryor
Amaro
McDougle
Evans/Enunwa
Dozier
Reilly/IK
That would be a 50% hit rate in year 2. Not great, but not awful. Granted, at most you're looking at only 3 potential starters (Pryor, Amaro, Dozier) with McDougle having a chance in 2016.

Thoughts? Obviously Shaq and Dec need to be looked at due to injury, I loved what I saw from IK towards the end, so there is definitely enough to warrant consideration. You hope McDougal pans out, but hard to know since we really haven't seen anything at all of him. But if he came along and Milliner finally stays healthy, that would be great depth now and eventually take Cro and Revis spot down the line.
I liked what I saw from IK in pre season and limited snaps, he has a great motor and seemed to always find his way in the backfield. Wish we saw more of him.

God... why did you have to go there Andrew... I never want to revisit the great shame of 2014 again. What a disgrace. Out of twelve (can't even count that many on two hands) selections we had, i'll be impressed if 4 are still on the roster this time next year.
If Pryor can develop into a serviceable safety, Jace - a reliable redzone target, and guard depth provided by Dozier - we should all thank lady luck. I'd be nice to see Evans develop or McKnees stay in one piece for a few months, but i'm not holding my breath.
I could have done better last year, and I'm an asshole from Canada.

Did a sabbatical in Vancouver, but otherwise here for 20 years since we moved from Sarnia. I always figured you for a GTA guy. NAHHH! Just up the road from you. I was born in Woodstock, lived for years in Banff, and now live just outside of London. When I am out that way over the next couple of years, I will let you know. Maybe we'll watch a Jet game together! |

That draft is gonna haunt all of us for years. Idzik couldn't have done worse if he tried on purpose to F it up. So so sad. Anyone, and I mean anyone, could have done a better job - me, you, a monkey throwing darts at a board. Anyone. I will never forgive Idzik. 12 draft picks and that moron holds onto all of them and misses on every WR in the most WR rich draft in the history of the NFL. So f'in annoying. Let's bury that draft like Rex buried the ball after the pats game and never speak of it again. 2014 draft? what draft? I think that was the year the Jets got the dates wrong and didn't show up to Radio City (they were in Chicago). |

Granted, at most you're looking at only 3 potential starters (Pryor, Amaro, Dozier) with McDougle having a chance in 2016. yes and then people will need to eat some crow for beating down idzik so badly. add those guys to milliner and richardson and the idzik drafts weren't that bad. i'm not sayin he shouldn't have gone and i'm certainly liking what mac has been doing but it a prett yfine line between average and greatness and sometimes the criticism goes a little overboard. |

I would love to see Amaro develop into a complete TE, A stud TE would allow the O to go in so many different directions. I like the McDougle kid. If Pryor was a Free Safety I would be much more excited about his development.

This just illustrates how fvcking bad Izdick was at his job as GM. All of us knew there was no way the Jets could use all 12 draft picks last year. Notice how our new GM masterfully played the draft to the Jets benefit? Izdick could not even make a trade to move up to grab one of those talented wrs ( a strong need last year). Just incredible. Woody should seek damages from Izdick for his incompetence. |

I've been on the Shaq wagon since the day before we drafted him last year. He never really got a look last year because of his injuries. He plays faster than he timed and has hands. He can really surprise, especially learning from the likes of Marshall and Decker. Shaq & Devin might be our future 1 & 2 and we don't even know it. |
