With Free Agency and the Draft behind us, it looks like the Jets made some wholesale, across the board upgrades to the roster with virtually every unit. At worst, I think the Jets stayed the same at a few positions like RB and TE, but I don't see anywhere that the Jets regressed (unlike 2014 when they fell off a cliff personnel-wise at several positions). If we look at...
Def Line Linebackers Secondary
Offensive Line Wide Receiver TE RB QB
ST
I can't really see a spot with the possible exception of TE that we didn't improve at least a little.
The Defensive Line returns all of its best players and added Williams. The Linebackers return largely the same group, added some depth and OLB Lorenzo Mauldin. The Secondary will likely start 3 out of 4 new players and is the most dramatically improved unit on the team.
On offense the Jets signed James Carpenter and are returning several young (hopefully) improving players like Aboushi on the Line. Wide Receiver has added Brandon Marshall and 2nd round pick Devin Smith. The QB spot is still very dependent on Geno Smith but with a better insurance policy this year with Fitzpatrick. I think a 3rd year Geno Smith, Fitzpatrick and Bryce Petty will be a better group than Smith, Vick and Simms.
RB and TE are the only spots that seem about the same as last season. Running Back had no real upgrade except for depth (adding Ridley and Stacy). TE hasn't really been touched with the exception of some depth, UDFA type additions (Wes Saxton). Special Teams also looks a lot like 2014, although I'm interested to see who emerges at the Kick and Punt returners this year.
How would you assess the positional units on the team? If you had tag each with a rating of either Upgraded, Downgraded, or Same, what rating would you assign to each?

We improved at nearly every position, most importantly at HC and GM.
Although I would love another punter if I was being picky.

qb - sorry it didn't improve - let's just pray that the Petty Kid is the 2nd coming of Namath.

O-Line And inside linebackers How did they get worse? The o-line did not add any players that can be considered an upgrade and they are older. That makes them worse. Inside linebackers or just linebackers in general are the same and the key man in Harris is older as are babin and pace. Unless Mauldin becomes worthy of snaps over those guys the linebacker are a weakness and old.

TE got better, Kellen Davis is the best blocking TE we've had in years.

qb - sorry it didn't improve - let's just pray that the Petty Kid is the 2nd coming of Namath. I disagree. Fitz is much, much better than Vick at this point. Petty is likely an upgrade to Simms as well. As a whole, the QB position is improved. How much better the starting QB play will be remains to be seen.

Unless Mauldin becomes worthy of snaps over those guys the linebacker are a weakness and old. They added players and didn't get worse. Only in your mind I guess. Same story with the LBs. anyone can say they're 6 months older therefore they're worse. So to recap anyone who hurt added is too young to help and the holdovers have aged 6 months and have hot to be worse. That might be as dumb an evaluation as it gets. Why didn't this idiotic revenue spread out to the WRs? You don't know what Smith is and the rest, I assume have also aged 6 months. Did we add a TE? Nope, they've aged too, they'll suck..... Thankfully the rest of the division is rapidly getting worse. The Bills didn't add to their DL and of course it's aging And the Pats QB situation is much worse, they failed to add to it this year and Brady is aging
