This whole argument from the Pats about a "sting" and a "witch hunt" is so goddamn ridiculous.
As if the NFL was just dying to slander the guy who has been the face of their league for the last 15 years.

I'll go from considering him one of the worst things to ever happen to the league, to putting his fucking picture on my mantle.

Is this the best that high priced Boston legal minds can come up with?

It's truly pathetic. They weren't even there to witness it.

Pig ignorant, arrogant bastards. They can't just accept the punishment, they have to kick and scream and make themselves look even more idiotic.

Is this the best that high priced Boston legal minds can come up with? The purpose of the rebuttal isn't to shape a legal argument for a judicial court; it's for the court of public opinion. The Pats are trying to change the conversation away from what the appropriate punishment should be to whether the report any punishment is based on is even accurate. It doesn't matter whether the arguments are flimsy, just that the media will shift away from the punishment and get into the details of the accuracy of the report. The less credible people think the report, the less severe they will think any punishment should be. Knowing how much the NFL submits to public opinion, it's important for the Pats to manipulate public opinion. The team also needs to throw out reasons why the report is wrong for the sake of its own fans. Sure, there are lots of people who are unflinching fans but the Pats also have a lot of fans who are struggling to support a team twice found guilty of cheating.
