All speculation, but nothing is going on right now, so what the hell. Would you trade for Wilson, giving up multiple first round picks? Maybe throw in a player? Along with giving him a huge contract.

Seattle isn't trading Wilson but yes, I would take him and give up a lot for it. I don't think Wilson will be a HOF QB but if Wilson became our QB this year we would be a super bowl team.

I'd sell my mother to crack dealers for Wilson.

God NO!! We are just getting to a point where we are making sound long term decisions and we are considering a knee jerk trade for a QB who while decent was aided tremendously by Lynch, a hell of a defense and a good coaching staff. I'm not sure he would function as well under different circumstances.

I would say fuck it and do the trade. As much as I would love to draft and develop our own guy, i'm tired of waiting for that magic to happen. Get yourself a young smart franchise QB in his prime? Done.

Of course I would
You've seen what the kid's done throwing to the likes of Doug Baldwin, Jermaine Kearse and Ricardo Lockette.
I can't help but think he'd be more than capable of getting the job done with Marshall, Decker, Smith, Kerley and Amaro.

My initial reaction was "no," but after thinking about it now I think I would. Looking at our team, would we not be a Super Bowl contender with some upper-level QB play?

I can't help but think he'd be more than capable of getting the job done with Marshall, Decker, Smith, Kerley and Amaro. On the flipside, he achieved that whilst having a top-five running back for which opposing defensive coordinators must spend a lot of time planning on how to stop, as well as an offensive line that did a great deal to protect him. Plus there's also the benefit of having a strong defence that can, more often than not, put Wilson in a good field position. The Jets' offensive line is still a work in progress at this stage (I wouldn't be surprised if Maccagnan takes an offensive lineman in the first round in next year's draft). The Jets' defence looks good on paper but two of the key players are on the wrong side of 30 already and there's a question mark over whether Wilkerson will be a Jet in the long-term. Speaking of which, trade for Wilson and I don't see how the Jets have the coin to ink Wilkerson to a long-term deal. Wilson won't be playing for sheep stations should he ever leave Seattle. He wants to be paid like a SB-winning QB. Good luck to him, but we've seen the Ravens shed talent each season since Flacco finagled his hot streak in the playoffs into a huge contract because his contract squeezes the salary cap so tightly.

But in spite of his contract the Ravens have gone to the playoffs every years but one with Flacco and won the super bowl one year. That's not bad performance with a QB who is good but not great, especially when you consider the tough competition in their division. Flacco doesn't carry the team by himself but he's a guy they can build an offense around and produce offensively without having big names surrounding him. Whether it's Wilson or Flacco or any other successful QB the team is going to eat a massive contract once the player gets off the rookie contract but you don't need to pay for top talent at all the other offensive positions to put points on the board.

Wilkerson, Geno Smith and a 2016 1st rounder? That's actually interesting but likely not enough for Seattle. There's also the small issue of coming up with about $110-120 million.

One conclusion you could draw from this thread is that some fans are more preoccupied with managing the cap effectively than actually winning a Super Bowl.
How is this even a question? The only way the answer is "no" is if the price is too steep - have people not seen what Wilson has done with a receiving corps in the bottom 3rd of the league?

Of course. Wilk plus 2016 first rounder is an easy trade to say yes to. To be thorough in our diligence, however, we should all pause and remember that Geno's last game was far better than Wilson's. Just sayin'

I would gladly ship him along with 2 first round picks. (1 isn't going to do it). Well worth it.
