Where I am, your football season is in my summer. Bridges the gap between the end of one Australian Football League season and the start of next year's season. One of the reasons I started following the NFL again.

This is what cracks me up about people who move to "warm weather states" and snicker when the north gets snow in the winter. Oh. The weather is so great down there. Then why does everyone spend more than six months a year in air conditioning? Because it's too hot. I'd rather deal with snow than face melting temperatures. I'm pretty much the opposite. I'd rather have 105 degrees than 5 degrees any day! And you don't need to shovel sunshine. But again, that's just my opinion. I like wearing jeans and a t-shirt in December, playing golf in February, etc. I like the change of seasons. I'm fine with the heat or cold although the extremes of each kind of suck. The summer is my busy season because of work so I probably enjoy myself more during the rest of the year but I do enjoy summer too. I like fall, winter and spring a lot and I would never consider moving south. Then again, I don't have to shovel my walk or driveway which is probably the biggest gripe of people in the north.

And I absolutely hate those mornings when I have to shovel a foot of snow out of teh driveway and my half four drive to work becomes 1 1/2 to 2 hours. I will take the summer hear any day. This past winter wasn't so bad though. Had shoulder surgery around Thanksgiving. Doctor's orders -- no shoveling snow for 4 months. I have to admit it wasn't so bad sitting around with a cup of coffee while the wife had to go out and deal with the snow. Trying to figure out if I can have another surgery this December. Maybe I should hurt the other shoulder.

Now, back to the countdown. Tough decision today. I could go old school with John Schmitt, Center and anchor of the OLine for a decade in the late 60s/early 70s and member of the SB Champs. Or, do I go new school with David Harris, defensive leader for the last 9 seasons. What the fuck, I will go with both.

Excellent choices, lithfan! Here's old-school how to help your quarterback up!

I had two choices for my jets/planes pics. So here they both are:

Several good options today. Ralph Baker gets top billing because he has one of these:

Not many options today. Went with Eric Barton, who narrowly avoided going down in Jets history beside Mark Gastineau when his boneheaded 4th quarter roughing the passer penalty on 4th and 2 with 24 seconds left gave Drew Brees and the Chargers a first down at the 1 yard line. Chargers would score on a Brees TD pass to Gates forcing overtime. Fortunately for Barton and the Jets, Nate Kaeding would steal the goat horns from Barton when he missed a 40 yarder in OT and the Jets went on to win on a short FG by Doug Brien. Thanks to Nate Kaeding, Barton has earned a spot on the countdown.
