Had a friend call the other day and complained about being a long time Direct Tv customer and how new customers are receiving the package for free. They caved and gave him it for free as well.
I called Saturday tried the same ploy ( I have been a customer for 7 years) and at first only got what amounted to $40 bucks off bill. Then called back hour later asked to be transferred to cancellation and there they worked with me. I got the package for free this year as well as a $47 dollar credit.
Make take a few tries, but as we all know they want your biz so press and hopefully like me who lives out of state you can get the package for free!!

They can (and do) fairly easily check the IP address routing of the box and can tell if it's coming through CenturyLink in a Phoenix, AZ location, as an example.

Been doing the online option with a buddy of mine - I split the cost of the Nfl package and use the web portion - it's great! I wish they'd just have that option available.

Im not sure about the internet thing fellas as this is more old school but im quite sure once you aim that dish and get signal, then call them to tyrn service on you can do what u want. They dont care where u r and have no reason to think otherwise and I doubt there is such a complex system in place where u would get flagged. As long as u r paying the bill and sticking to your plan they dont care. They are also good about seasonal service at no charge so u can have your normal local cable year round but set up a dish and get a simple box for use during foitball season
Its not like tge jets play after december lol. Plus u get preseason games as a ny local

The ATT/DirecTV merger just went through so perhaps there's a chance that Sunday Ticket will make its way to U-verse.

Anyone have any updates on this?
I completely struck out this evening after over an hour on the phone. They caught me in a bold faced lie regarding the Movers credit since I relocated about 4 months ago. Told them back in April the rep told me I would get Sunday Ticket for free(lie) and complained why I was being billed the full price. Completely forgot that I tried to coax them down in July and they HAD NOTES ON IT! Totally busted.
They only offered $10 off per month and a $15 credit for a total savings of $75. I told them to cancel the ticket and Center Ice which they gladly did.

The ATT/DirecTV merger just went through so perhaps there's a chance that Sunday Ticket will make its way to U-verse. The merger was only approved about 3 weeks ago. It is going to take some time to integrate the two networks. However, having said that, I have both AT&T Uverse and DTV at my home in Los Angeles. AT&T offered me DTV for video service only while I am able to keep AT&T Uverse for internet and phone and all on one bill. AT&T also reduced my monthly bill, at my request, resulting in my new AT&T/DTV bill being only about $275/month and on one bill. Very good customer service. Not sure if the proposed Time Warner Cable/Charter merger has any impact -- Time Warner Cable is the franchise in LA. Whatever the reason, AT&T reduced my monthly bill.
P.S. The only thing I miss is not being able to see the caller id on the tv (AT&T Uverse). Oh well, can't have everything.

Made the call. 3 minutes later I've lowered my bill by $39 per month and got the NFL Sunday Ticket MAX upgrade for free. I probably could have pressed harder and possibly gotten more but I'm not one of those "stay on the phone for an hour to extract every nickel and threaten to cancel 5 times" kinda guys. I have the Choice XTRA Classic package (about 220 channels), most/all of the premium channels (HBO, SHOW, MAX, etc.), the local Sports Pack for Fox Sports AZ, etc. plus Sunday Ticket. My monthly bill was about $180 previously which included equipment (Genie GO, the whole house DVR, etc.) and I was about to pay $250 for NFL Sunday Ticket. They are now giving me a $30/month credit for 12 months on my bill, a $9ish/month credit for 6 months to bring down the Sunday ticket to $199, and then threw in the upgrade to MAX for free. Again, not the best deal but that 3 minute phone call saved me a total of $410 over the next year and got me NFL ST MAX for free so I'm happy. I'm thinking about lowering the bill further by dumping some of the premium channels, maybe just keeping HBO.
