I am sure this is all true but honestly it's all bs also. Nobody and I mean NOBODY in their right mind thought last years team could compete. The coaches knew it, the players knew it. Maybe only Idziot didn't. Of course there's more optimism this year. This team is talented. Apart from Geno this is a Super Bowl caliber team. Not saying they would win it but they'd be one of the teams in the mix. If you've ever been stuck in a disastrous situation at work you'd know that no matter how hard you try and how positive you try to be the negativity permeates everywhere. I actually give Rex credit for keeping the team together under dire circumstances last year. Don't get me wrong, a complete change was needed by everyone. But there are lots of worse coaches than Rex. Bowles may be way better even. I do prefer Bowles style more myself. But the huge problem the Jets had was Idziot and the lack of talent... Good point. repped Speak for yourself. I definitely thought the Jets had the chance to compete last year.

I'm very optimistic about Bowles, but the realist in me wonders how we'll view him in 5 years, 10 years, etc. Let's remember how excited we were for just about every HC hire over the past 20-30 years. I'd say that Parcells is the only guy we'd welcome back if we could. Seriously....look at this list and tell me, looking back, was our optimism well-rooted for these guys...
Al Groh Herm Edwards Eric Mangini Rex Ryan
Again, I'm not trying to rain on the parade because I'm a big T. Bowles fan and have followed him here in Arizona for years, but the skeptic in me wonders if he'll be on a list of guys we'd never want near the team again.

Speak for yourself. I definitely thought the Jets had the chance to compete last year. I hope this a joke. Not sure we can ignore the fact that the Jets not only had a Bottom 5 QB, but that we were starting guys who no one had ever heard of before, we cut our starting WR#2 (Nelson) and he wasn't even picked up by another team, our starting CB#2 (Patterson) went AWOL and never started a game, CB#1 (Milliner) tore his Achilles tendon and a rookie (McDougle) who may have had to step up into one of those two spots tore his ACL. Our prized free agent, Eric Decker, missed what...5 games? We had close to zero talent on the field at the CB and WR positions. The Jets had one of the worst rosters in the entire NFL last year. You want an offense that can scare defenses....the only people they scared were our fans! How the Jets only lost to the Patriots by a COMBINED 3 points in two games still boggles the mind.

“In the past, practice seemed like something you went through. Something you just did. I'm not sure everyone took it seriously, players and the coaches". I mean WTF, this is just disgusting. I can't believe a team can prepare so poorly, how do you expect to beat the hoodie etc when you can't put the work in and prepare properly. Shocks me every time I read that quote. right. i remember when herm said he didn't have tackling drills. what? i guess his rationale was that they were professional football players and should already know. the simple fact is repetition is what takes teams and players from good to great. the big thing with the jets is they've had quite a few high round draft picks but not many probowlers coming out of the group. that's all on coaching.
