August 5, 1995The Jets would open up the 1995 pre-season (and the Rich Kotite era) with a 9-3 victory over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. This came just 3 months after the draft that Jet fans have come to know as the Kyle Brady - Warren Sapp draft. Ironic that the two would meet in their first pre-season game. That offseason would prove to be a crossroads for the two teams as the Bucs, by drafting Sapp and Derrick Brooks were putting together the foundation of their 2002 SB winning team. And the Jets, with the hiring of Kotite were on their way to a 4-28 record over two seasons. Possibly the 3rd worst 2 season stretch since the merger. I am not aware of any teams other than the 76-77 Bucs (2-26) and the 08-09 Lions (2-30) who have had a worse 2 year stretch since 1970.

LOL Today is my wedding anniversary, and I remember watching this shitfest in the lobby during the reception.

God. What horrible memories. What a loser Kotite was. What an idiot Hess was. What a complete a total f&(k up that whole era (error) was. Great line from Serby on talking about Kotite: "I was watching the Titanic on TV and I swear, as the ship was going down, I saw Rich Kotite on the deck picking his nose and cleaning his glasses". haha. that f*cking dope.

I moved to Charlotte in 1995. No internet, cable TV and football packaging made it near impossible to watch the Jets from Charlotte. I didnt miss much. Thats a positive....
