August 26, 2002
The Jets trimmed their roster from 90 to 75. Among the cuts was a little known UDFA defensive lineman out of Illinois, Brandon Moore. Moore was eventually re-signed to the Jets practice squad in December of 02. Coach Herman Edwards suggested a position change to increase his chances of making the team the following season. In February of 2003, the Jets allocated him to NFL Europe to learn the OL position. Moore played in 2003 as an offensive lineman for the Scottish Claymores of NFL Europe and he also played on both sides of the ball with the Carolina Cobras of the Arena League. He would be resigned and released several times throughout 2003 training camp and the regular season. He would be waived on 3 separate occasions before finally being promoted from the practice squad to the Jets active roster on 10/22/03. Brandon would see his first game action in a 6-0 victory against the Steelers week 14 and make his first start for the Jets in the 03 season finale against the Dolphins. Moore would open the 2004 season as the Jets starting OG. A hamstring injury would sideline him for 3 games in October. Moore would return for week 8 and never leave the Jets lineup again until after the 2012 season. He would remain a starter for the Jets for the remainder of his career. He started 137 consecutive regular season games from 2004 through the end of the 2012 season. As a free agent in the 2012 offseason, he would reach agreement on a $2 million contract with the Cowboys, but decided to retire rather than play for another team. Moore’s comments upon announcing his retirement, "I've been truly blessed. I don't have any regrets about my career. I gave it my all. I'd like to be known as a dependable guy who showed up for work every day and gave it his all.” Brandon, you will be remembered by Jet fans as that and more. We still haven’t found his replacement.

Best player on the field for the Claymores that year - even though he was switching positions. His talent was obvious.
Returned to the Jets and worked his way into a long-term starting job.
A very good guy, and a very good player who earned it the hard way.

Love Brandon Moore. His retirement speech pc made me cry. This lousy team should still give him a better retirement ceremony than that. asshats.

A very good guy, and a very good player who earned it the hard way. it's almost too bad that he played for so long. his last season was tough and he injured his hips the season before. alway nice to see the udfa's make it. they're kind of like pound pups.
