Believe it or not, I became a Jet fan during the Kotite era when I was a kid. The games came on channel 11 in NYC and I watched them lose every week. Never cared for the Giants so I continued to follow the Jets. I guess tormenting myself is ingrained in me from young. Parcells came, we drafted Keyshawn, Vinny took over at QB, and the rest is history. I remember how excited I was to watch the Jets play in the AFCCG against the Broncos. I of course was devastated when we lost. My Uncle took me to my first Jet game in 2002 for the playoff game against the Colts. Probably the most fun I've had at a sporting event to date. Giants Stadium was pandemonium as most of you remember as we whooped the Colts 41-0. For better or for worse, I love every bit of being a Jet fan and can't see myself rooting for another team the way I root for the Jets. They are my favorite sports team out of all the sports I follow.

I was born in Jersey so I always rooted for the NY teams. Mainly Yankees and when I was younger I liked both the Giants and Jets. I didn't choose them. They must have chosen me. Maybe it's because people hate them so much and with so much anger that they drew me in more. I like the underdog and I hate bandwagoners. I guess it's just more natural for me to be miserable, so the Jets found themselves a perfect fit. Oh, also I absolutely HATE Boston teams, so Jets being their nemesis was of value to me I think. I feel the same way HH. That's why I stuck with them even when they were terrible...

I moved to New York the fall of 89 and because I hate all blue sports teams (its a Turkish/Galatasaray thing) I became a fan of the Jets. Kyle Clifton, Al Toon and Jeff Lageman were the guys that kept me interested through the Coslet Era, Blair thomas, Browning Nagle, etc. and then moved back to Turkey. I only followed the team through US newspapers until the interwebz came along. I remember listening to the 41-0 beatdown of the colts at three in the morning on internet radio. And then came the torrents and I can now watch all the games again albeit a couple of days late. I've never watched a live NFL game, hope to go to London for my first one next October. Fenerbahce 4eva!! GFY

Very first football game I watched was Super Bowl III - I jumped on the band wagon. That and Namath had dreamy eyes.

My grandfather graduated from military academy and played with the NY Giants, before the NFL (1927?) took it professional. I hated that WASP blowbag; and I knew Joe Namath would always be there for me. Pop-pop could pound salt.
Of course, in his memoirs, I was referred to as a 10 year old know-nothing narcissist; a lucky kid whose team shocked the world, in the dumbest championship game ever.

We were on a Super Bowl winning streak...probably would have strung 3 in a row together with Namath and had 7 rings by now altogether. But noooooo....you had to jump on the bandwagon and break one of the wheels. Jets have been stuck in the mud ever since.

Early 80's in Jackson Heights, where we'd play football, before and after school and all weekend with a football, a tennis ball or a quarter on the lunch room table, is where i got my start.
I got hooked on them as they were winning and I still remember listening to '82 championship game grocery shopping with my Mom in the local King Kullen. Went home and watched the rest of the debacle but that was enough to hate Shula, Duhe and the rest of those in that putrid Aqua and Orange.
