This article sums it up correctly. Judge's ruling doesn't mean Tom Brady is innocent, it means the NFL failed in DeflategateUSA Today Sports Chris Chase 2 hrs ago Judge Richard Berman officially caved Thursday morning when he nullified the NFL’s four-game suspension of Tom Brady, giving into legalese and semantics and proving that the sun always shines on the Golden Boy, now matter how tarnished that image may now be. Just because one thing is true doesn’t mean another isn’t, which is a good rule to remember when looking at Deflategate. Everything the NFL did in this controversy was a mess. It started with the leaked and erroneous reports to ESPN about the massive deflation of 11 of the 12 AFC footballs, then to the poor handling of the Wells Report that ensured it would never be viewed as independent and was capped by Roger Goodell’s cocksure demeanor and his projected belief that his word was etched into stone, unable to be overturned by any entity. But just because the NFL office is a circus set inside a skyscraper doesn’t obstruct from the larger point: Tom Brady either tried to cheat, did cheat or covered up information about his attempts to cheat. It’s likely the first one happened, you can debate the second and the third is undeniable — even Brady’s lawyer said so. Throw out all the lawyer-speak and that’s what it boils down to. At worst, Brady’s four-game suspension should have been upheld. At best, he destroyed evidence and still deserved one game or two. Now, because common sense plays no part in the judicial system or in the NFL’s way of conducting business, Brady is off the hook for something he likely did. He got off on technicalities and the NFL’s incompetence, not because he’s innocent. And now, the NFL, through large fault of its own, is stuck between appealing a decision that benefits one of its greatest stars or dragging out a story that’s been dragged out enough. Brady cheated. He deserved four games. But it’s time to let it go, NFL. You lost. He won. Again. Newsflash, there was no 4-game suspension precedent for deflating footballs. Evidence shows it's a common practice and the league had done nothing to enforce the rule in the past. The judge was right. Besides, the whole NFL is on steroids so everyone is cheating. Let the Jets beat Brady on the field and prove we are the better team. We don't need suspensions to win.

There is bitter irony in Brady getting off because no one told him the rules...when the pats have built a core competency out of exploiting loopholes in the rules before officials can get to them (see last years Ravens game).
Ultimately this is our karma for the schadenfreude we exerted. This scumbag walks away scot free while our best player sits for four games, prob more, and our qb gets his jaw broken by a teammate who himself is still unpunished by the league and collecting a pay check despite assault. Unreal.

Hopefully this is the beginning of the end for Goodell and Ted Wells' involvement with the NFL. Goodell is a terrible commissioner and every Wells report stated everything we already knew. Time for him to get off the NFL's nipple.

The Flats* are going to burn down opponents stadiums causing them to forfeit now? Wouldn't put it past them at all. Probably doesn't say anything about punishments for doing that in the NFL rule book so they'll probably get away with it too. is there a rule anywhere that says you can't kidnap the opposing team's coach on Saturday night, get him drunk then drive him out to the middle of the desert blindfolded and hogtied? No? OK maybe there is, but it doesn't say what the punishment is, right? Or flood the other team's locker room with tear gas at half time? Or, or or The difference is that this sort of behavior has gone on in the past and the NFL did not penalize it. It would be like if cops all of a sudden gave speeding tickets for going 1 MPH over the limit.

The NFL bungled this whole fucking situation from the rip. Hiring an "independent" investigator the same way Kraft hired those "independent" faux scientists to try and explain how Ideal Gas Law ideally would work but forgot to mention that it didn't affect all of the subjects involved so.... yeah.
There was a guy handling their balls and he literally fucking calls himself the deflator, threatens to not give Brady the balls he likes to throw unless he gets shoes and autographed shit, and we're supposed to believe that nothing happened, nothing weird, as my man Joe Dirt would say? I don't fucking think so. Eat shit you fucking bastards.

Hope someone Theisman's him. And quickly.
At least Kraft admitted guilt and they lost 1st and 4th round picks. That part is un deniable.
Would like to see a Brady shoulder injury.

Just like the ones Sanchez took constantly. Give a personal foul after his shoulder gets broken, fine with me.

Leo needs to get that knee healed up real good. I'm ready for him to inflict some justice on that shithole they call New England.

I just think we need to have more pride in our Jets and be confident that they can overcome the Patriots regardless of cheating. The writing is on the wall and Brady's body won't be able to recover from the hits at his age. Soon he will be but a bad memory, albeit a really long one.

People thinking the NFL is in trouble will be disappointed. Watching Tom Brady start for the Pats is not only the most compelling show in sports, but all of TV come next Thursday night.
