While one of the all-time greats, Malone's ability to influence a locker room was legendary -- and not so much from a leadership role. "Oh man, when big Mo got his seat stank goin' on, dude could clear out the ROOM right quick" said close friend and one-time teammate Doc Rivers. "Boy could peel some paint, and he was NEVER shy to let it fly." Rivers recalled how Malone was often given the entire first-class section to himself on cross country flights, as wary teammates crowded the back of the plane in search of clearer air. Early in the season, in what can only be termed a cruel hazing ritual, one rookie was forced to sit next to Malone in first-class for the duration of Los Angeles to Philly flights.
