Brian Costello @briancoz 6m6 minutes ago Jets waived Ronald Martin to clear room for Dion Bailey. They claimed Martin from Seattle a few weeks ago. #nyj
Seattle waived Bailey to make room for Kam Chancellor.
UDFA out of USC in 2014:
Dion Bailey Height: 5-11.5 Weight: 201 40: 4.65
Year: 4Jr School: USC Position: S
Positive: Three-year starter who lined up at both safety and outside linebacker. Junior totals included 61 tackles, 5 INTs, and 6 PBUs after 80 tackles as a sophomore. Solid college defender with average physical skills for the next level. Remains disciplined with assignments, quickly closes to the play, and wraps up when tackling. Aggressive. Wedges through blocks on the inside and shows quickness. Flashes sideline-to-sideline range and effectively makes plays in open space.
Negative: Lacks a great closing burst to the ball. Overpursues the action and takes himself from plays. Not big enough for linebacker or fast enough for safety.
Analysis: Bailey was a consistent defender at USC but comes with poor measurables for the NFL. His best shot is making a roster on special teams coverage units.

Don't worry, Pryor can teach him how to tackle.

Don't worry, Pryor can teach him how to tackle. When will somebody teach you how to get hit by a train?

How is he at geometry? you know, angles and stuff. Because we have a safety who is bad at geometry.

usc seems to produce more than its fair share of defensive backs. bowles like to play a 5 man secondary so maybe this guy will help there and also relieve another player from special teams duty.
