This is a random thought not a thread starting topic. Moron No it isn't. This is serious. We used to have a Soccer Forum.

Thats what happens when you have a Kraut coaching the team. I like Klinsmann but he doesn't get us. The way we played under Bob Bradley and Bruce Arenas ... Those were things to be proud of. I'm not sure the hype is the same under Klinsmann. It doesn't feel the same.

Seriously though.... You can't win starting Beckerman and these old ass dudes against young, fast, talented international players. Put these guys out to pasture already.

You might not think it now but Jurgen is the best choice for you. Believe me when I say he would not be playing the oldies if there where better youth players available. He is an outstanding coach and a good motivator.
Football form goes up and down and at the moment the US is sliding down a little but in the long term it will go up.
If you are into Soccer as you guys call it I recommend reading a book called Soccernomic, it will let you know why one day the US could become a powerhouse team.

P.S. The Mexican team has some great talent at the moment and is on the rise. I'm not sure any manager would make the difference in the game. Unlike some other sports Soccer is more about the players on the pitch and their attitude. Managers can only make a difference if the players want to ride the same bus.

Unlike some other sports Soccer is more about the players on the pitch and their attitude. Managers can only make a difference if the players want to ride the same bus. The problem is that Mexico has some really good young players and the US is still trying to figure out the changing the guard. It's frustrating but that's what we have. And I'll be real honest about summarizing this whole situation... If Tim Howard didn't take that vacation then we'd have won the Gold Cup and this wouldn't even have been an issue. And if Tim would have played last night he wouldn't have let in those soft ass goals. Guzan single handedly lost the Gold Cup with his stupid play and the throwing foul outside the box. It felt like we got set up for that but it was technically the right call. Lead directly to a goal from the free kick. And Jermaine Jones does it again, off his foul the free kick turns into a goal, as amazing as that volley was, it should have never happened. Beasley running up out of position to challenge it a step too slow and then the guy is wide open to knock that where Guzan should have gotten a touch to it. If that went to penalties I'm sure the US would have lost anyway. They have zero attackers on that team outside of these very young kids. No killer instinct. Mexico would have sunk their shots. So I can't blame Jurgen for those things. And if it wasn't for Jurgen we wouldn't have a Julian Green, Zelalem, etc... committing to USA. But in the end he needs to focus more on the players here in the country instead of dual nationals across seas that may or may not reach their potential. There's talent there in the youth ranks, for some reason Jurgen would rather trot out the likes of Beckerman, Beasley, and Jones instead and watch people run right by them.

Where as you are correct in the fact that Howard is a far superior GK to Guzman (Night and Day) Howard decision to play for the USA came after declaring himself out of the team for over a year. Jurgen had probably notified the players who would be starting. You canĀ“t just go back and drop one because another guy decides he wanted to play, you could lose favour with your players.
The game was also much closer than you make out and in my humble opinion Paul Aguilar is a bloody good player who stepped up in the right time to win the game. International Football is no easy game. Look at how England have fared over the last 20 years. We have a shocking record considering we had a line up of stars.
We didn't lose because of the manager, we lost because the 11 players on the pitch always thought they had the win before stepping foot on the pitch.
