I could use some advice. I flew in from Chicago last night. Heading to the Jet game tomorrow. Buddy of mine calls me and tells me he has an extra ticket to the Met game. So, what is best way to get from Met Life to Citi. How bad is GW Bridge - Triboro bridge traffic after s game. Would I be better off taking tunnels thru Manhattan?
Thanks.

After the Eagles game, hung out in the parking lot for a bit, then headed out. GWB was awful. Easily 45 minutes in traffic. If you're going to citi, would you take the GWB? Is there a better way without going thru Manhattan?

I guess an alternative would be to head south taking across Statement Island to Verrazanp and then come up through Brooklyn, but that would be an awful lot of extra mileage. Not sure it's worth it.

I think I would actually do the tunnels. And cut thru Manhattan. The Lincoln probably starts backing up about 6 not sure what midtown will do on a Sunday evening. Probably most of the game traffic is not coming from Manhattan

Use an app like Waze to give you the best directions with the current traffic. I live about 10 minutes passed Citi Field. It takes me at least an hour to get home after the games. (25 minutes to get to Met Life before the game)
Usually the best way to go is over the GW. But I don't go by Citi Field on the way home so you will likely catch traffic over there too.

I used to cut through the city via the Lincoln Tunnel after a game and it always sucked. But I haven't done it in a few years so maybe it's better. But according to Waze, it always says that it's longer than taking the GW. Then again, one accident no matter which way you are going will obviously screw up the whole ride.
Again, check waze of other GPS with traffic and see what the best way to go is. I would think the GW to the Whitestone would be your best option. But check first.
Once in a while I'll get home in 45 minutes after a game but it has also taken me an hour and a half.

Personally, I would park in Hoboken and take the PATH. Why drive your car to citi field? Cant you just take the subway? Guaranteed to be easier. And faster.

Thanks everyone for the suggestions. I am staying with my in laws in Suffolk Sunday night -- so mass transit is not an option. Sounds like I should be able to make it in plenty of time for the game whichever way I go.

Go north to the Tappan Zee bridge then shoot down the Hutch over the Whitestone and bam, you're there!

Why not drive to Citi early Sunday Morning. Take the LIRR to Penn Station Hop on the New Jersey Transit to Secaucus Take train to MetLife After then just do the same You should be at MetLife by 6pm

Only thing to consider is whether trains stop at citi field that early in the morning. they may not. If not, take the 7 to Times Square then the 1, 2 or 3 to Penn. LIRR trains will definitely go to Citi Field in the late afternoon.
