Problem for any team that swings and misses on a franchise QB. You have to give the guy at least 2 years, and in the meantime you don't draft a QB because you can't afford to have two young # 1s on the roster. When the QB flops you're stuck with a veteran no-hoper or a young backup with no experience for another season. Jets have been on this merry go round since Pennington's shoulder was injured. Geno's not the answer-so we go back on the QB carousel. we've been on that turnstile longer than Pennington - try Namath.

It's the Jets own fault that we haven't gotten good QB play. We hired, and continue to employ, a defensive minded coach, one that simply isn't capable of developing a QB. Second, and more importantly, we used all of our 1st round picks on defensive players, when we could've used them on better offensive linemen and skill players.
Next coach needs to be offensive minded, someone who has shown he can get good production from QB's. And we need to use our high draft picks on offensive players. If we do that, we could possibly be a playoff team in 2-3 years. But we're fucked until then.

Maybe we will luck out and be ahead of the curve when the game flows back to defense and running centric. Knowing our luck, this franchise would finally get focused on being Offense-oriented while everyone else is defense. Jets ALWAYS one step behind......FOREVER.

If the Jets (and whoever their GM is) thinks that either Mariotta or Winston is a possible franchise QB then you move heaven and earth to trade up and get one of them. It's that simple. Give up your first 3 picks if necessary....but get that potential franchise QB. It's the most important position on the field and we seem to have swung and missed twice with Sanchez and Geno. Neither is atrocious but they're not even close to being Top Half of the League. We need a Top 15 QB. I think the OLine can continue to be good and the future at OG may lie with Aboushi and Dozier, if not Winters. Ferguson, Mangold and Breno can hold the fort at the OT and C spots. We need the f'ing QB! Go get him. Keep drafting one until you have a franchise guy.

First we need to take the GM and every single soul in the Scouting Dept and replace them with people who actually know what they are doing.

The problem is the Goodell had made the NFL the crap it is now. Cater the rules to give teams with elite QBS too much of an advantage. There are the haves and have nots. Legitimate point, it's now hopeless unless you have top qb back there.
