I'm trying to find some positives from today and IK was one of them. He needs to start every game going forward to see if we have something, but he looks the part with a strong base, decent explosion, and a great motor.
In this wasteland of a season our 6th rounder shows the most promise and Rex keeps him on the bench.

Coples is good too. He got a lot of hate early, but he's slowly developed into a nice player

Coples is good too. He got a lot of hate early, but he's slowly developed into a nice player Coples has been misused by our defensive mastermind from day one. He is one free agent we might lose that I will guarantee will flourish.

IK and Reilly will continue to ride the pine while 40 year olds like Pace and Babin take 80% of the snaps.
That's the Rex Ryan way

I compared him to a young Harrison and when he plays he doesn't disappoint. And of course Rex will continue plating these vet scrubs who have 100% no future with our team.

I've been all over coples these last couple years. Couldn't stand him and his game. I will say that he looked much better playing on the line next to sheldon. He's not and never will be a 3-4 olb.

He worked him out on his pro day and subjected him too OLB drills. Then Rex told him we would draft him, and our defensive genius mastermind played a natural 295lb. guy at 3-4 OLB.

Have we seen enough to conclude this? Keep in mind they like him enough to keep him away from the PS.

Yup, because Rex tried to copycat Coples to what he did with Adelius Thomas back in Balt. Square pegs into round holes type of head coach.

It's fantastic that he's playing well in Week 15. But then it makes you wonder why he wasn't playing at all in Weeks 1-14. Especially when he had a very good preseason.
I suppose we are evaluating Calvin Pace to see what we have. Jason Babin is another young player I'm glad we are taking an extended look at.

Yup, because Rex tried to copycat Coples to what he did with Adelius Thomas back in Balt. Square pegs into round holes type of head coach. Yeah, well I can't blame him. If anyone saw Coples in the Senior Bowl he was a man among boys and was getting sacks very easily playing DE. This just hasn't translated at the 3-4 OLB position. I think yesterday showed us he's better at 3-4 DE even at his diminished playing weight (I'm not sure why). That could make Mo expendable if the 3-4 is retained with the new regime and give that new staff some options with Mo being trade bait. Of course, Mo could also be out if a 4-3 were in place as well with Coples obviously being a better fit at 4-3 DE and Harrison/Richardson being the DT's (you want one run-stuffer). And I've heard the argument that Mo could play 4-3 DE but I don't buy that at all.
I mention this all because the onus will now be on improving the team across the board. It's a very unbalanced team lacking in talent overall at many positions. It's in need of an overhaul and without having a chance to get one of the 2 QB's, it's time to strengthen the team for the next one that comes along in 2016 perhaps. Harris is old, Pace is old and if Coples isn't a LB, we are woefully short at that position and overloaded on the DLine. Seems to me that a switch to a 4-3 is in order to fit the talent.
Bottom line: the Jets need players and that should be the focus before we are able to get a QB. Like it or not, the Geno experiment has set the team back years and they can no longer place band-aids in place and win in spite of him. This means trying to trade back with our 1st rounder if there are takers and trade any assets you can afford to. The Titan game clearly illustrates that this team needs more young playmakers before we compete for the playoffs.
I've seen a lot of pained posts fearing we can't now get Amari Cooper. He's a good WR but I really don't see that much of a dropoff from the next tier of WR's in this draft. Trade back, Jets, if you can. We need more than just Cooper. That's my mantra from here on out.
