Oakland has looked pretty good the last couple of weeks, granted against some not so great teams, but this isn't the automatic win it once would have been even at the start of the season. Luckily, coming off the loss and with the business-like approach we've had so far I don't see the team overlooking the matchup.
Raiders offense essentially revolves all around their young guns, Cooper, Murray and Carr at the helm. Cooper had 133 yards, 5 catches and a TD against the Chargers - Michael Crabtree is their distant number two with eight other receivers having targets yesterday. With Revis on Cooper he'll be limited, if not eliminated from the game, and Carr will be forced to find these other 'studs' like Clive Walford and Seth Roberts and make them work for it. If we can actually get a pass rush going against the young Carr we're immediately controlling the passing game. That is still a big IF, however. Our rushing defense has spoken for itself - when Tom Brady is the leading rusher with 15 yards yesterday, we're doing something right - and a still largely unproven Murray will not have much to work with.
Their defense is more worrying to me - Hayden, Woodson and Smith round them out - but they do struggle vs the run. If Fitz starts tossing up some fettuccine and challenges their secondary often, that's where we might hit trouble, but sticking with what we're been doing should be more than enough.
Oakland aside, this team can't beat itself. There were a lot of lapses in judgement yesterday and really we played maybe 58 minutes of football - not the full 60. Can't blow coverages on 3rd and long. Can't commit untimely penalties. Need to get some semblance of a functional special teams unit working. Can't drop big passes. All stuff that's mostly fixable, hopefully the team can learn from it's mistakes and the coaching staff and see where the deficiencies lie.
Not a gimme, but very winnable. Yesterday's loss tells us a lot about this team - how they respond next week in Oakland will tell us even more. If we lose next week then you can start panicking, right now I think we're right on track.

All bets always seem to be off when we go to Oakland.
It's no coincidence that in the two games we lost Ivory either didn't play or was hurt and ineffective.
It also didn't help that Powell was out....he's just a much better all around back then Stacy is.
We need BeastEast and Powell get healthy for this one. Control the clock on the ground and keep Carr from throwing it all over the field.

This game should not be taken lightly by the jets, but after a huge win on the road in SD, I can see this being a letdown game for the Raiders coming back home....

I pray Fitz is eating a hot dog on the bench by the 3rd quarter.

I pray Fitz is eating a hot dog on the bench by the 3rd quarter. Me and WCO were at that game, the shutout in Oakland. It was also the game that Leon Washington broke his leg. Hot dogs, shutouts and broken legs....what a fuckin' game.

I think there's a very good chance we lose this game. Oak is not a bad team at all. I have a pretty bad feeling about this game, hoping it's the first real in-season adversity Bowles has to face. A close but error-plagued loss to NE followed by a clunker out West.
