was thinking this also + his age I have no concern about his age (turning 28 after the season). For a non-running QB who relies on his arm you could get another 7-10 years from the guy. The bigger question really is whether he's a good QB or not. He has had some truly exceptional passing seasons. He's basically thrown for 5000 yards twice (5,038 in 2011 and 4,967 in 2012) with a career TD-INT ratio of 144 to 96. In my mind, he'd surely be an upgrade to what we have now and what we've had for the past 5 years. BUT, how much of his success is due to Calvin Johnson? That's the key to me....Stafford's best years 2011-2013 coincide with a healthy Megatron who was in his prime. If we think Wilkerson's days are potentially numbered here as a Jet, I might try to use him as trade bait for a solid QB. Wilkerson + 2nd rounder for Stafford would be a deal I'd probably do. I think the value we're thinking about for him is too high. He might be had for a bit less. 3rd & 4th type thing.

I don't like Stafford and I would trade for him depending on the price...

HELL NO! An Injury prone mediocre qb who's had a the luxury of playing the best receivers of his generation. I'll pass You left out the part about Stafford playing behind one of, if not the worst OL in the NFL. Is Andrew Luck is mediocre too because he is always hurt? He too plays behind a horrific OL and takes a beating weekly. Dude has a lacerated kidney. Now I have no idea what that actually is, but it does not sound too good. I would like to see Stafford behind a good OL supported by a good running game. If he is available, go get him. We may give up the 14th pick in the draft which we would only blow on another pass rushing d Lineman or safety. Why not take a shot at a potential franchise QB?

you give stafford a ground game and he will do well. but more to the point, trading is about the only way the jets will get a top flight qb right now. there may be some guys who come out in free agency but the draft is always tricky and they won't be bad enough to get a top 3 pick. and a guy like stafford is young enough to have a very nice jet career.

I voted No, but after last night, sign me up. Love the fire Fitz plays with, but he's beyond limited and Petty isn't anywhere close to ready. Sheldon (yes, Sheldon) and a 3rd. Draft OL, OL, RB and ILB. Call me crazy, but Mauldin is our pass rusher.

Draft OL, OL, RB and ILB. Call me crazy, but Mauldin is our pass rusher. Fitz has won me over with his gritty play. The two throws to Decker on the last TD drive were big time. Fitz is also not the reason why Eric Decker dropped an incredibly critical pass that Anthony Becht would have caught. But he is just not the QB to overcome a night where fumbles and dropped passes essentially put 13 points on the board. A guy like Stafford turns this into a offense with quick-strike potential, which in turn would give Ivory a chance to run up the middle and not find 11 guys sitting on top of his offensive line. I don't blame Fitz for last night, but this team will always face an uphill battle when opposing defenses know the QB can't beat them all over the field. It's a liability that only a truly dominant defense AND O-Line can overcome when playing good teams, and the Jets only have one of those (if that).

Yes this needs to be the #1 priority Stafford is the victim of one of worst OL in football. Last night should show you all why this needs to be the first thing the Jets need to do in the offseason.

Agreed with the last couple of posts....I've grown to love Fitz's intangibles...
But this team goes nowhere until we have a QB we can put the game on his arm when everything else is not clicking
