I have no idea what the asking price would be, but we'd have to assume that it would be a fair trade for both teams when voting. I'd guess that means the Lions would likely want EITHER a bevy of draft picks (including multiple 1st rounders) OR a quality player (ex. Wilkerson) plus some other draft picks (say 2nd / 3rd rounders).
Would you trade for Matthew Stafford in the offseason?

No. Going to be way to expensive for a mediocre qb.

the mighty stafford - Sanchez draft class. I'd try like hell to get him though. Stafford with fitz as backup would be a good place to be.

No. Going to be way to expensive for a mediocre qb. I totally agree. Why give up mulitple 1sts for a guy that hasn't proven to be anything.

Why would we do it? Because we are literally a QB and a couple of OL away.
By the looks of it we are going to have a mid-to-late first rounder. We drafted Kyle Burnt Toast Wilson and Quinton Coples in those spots in recent years.
Id do it for Wilkerson and the #1.
Think of all the times Decker and Marshal have gotten behind coverage this year only for Fitz to underthrow them. Now picture those as TDs.
We'd be paying Stafford a million or two more than we paid Sanchez after Tanny extended him.

I didn't vote, but my answer would be: What do you want for Stafford? I certainly would not give multiple first round picks for him. The Jets could be in a position to package a quality player along with a draft pick/pick(s), but you don't want to give the moon for this guy.

This image says most of it. He locks onto Calvin and misses a lot of open receivers. He usually throws off his back foot and or weird arm angles that get deflected or INT... Not stafford he is like Jay Cutler. We want to find a good QB right? HE takes too many sacks for me also. 13TD-11INT this season so far. Save the picks and draft someone.

Taking all the above into account, he is still better than anything we had, have or will have

We'd be paying Stafford a million or two more than we paid Sanchez after Tanny extended him. Best post in the thread. I'd even consider Shelly and a #1 if it meant a player like Stafford...we would still be blessed at DE with Wilk and Williams. Some of these comparisons are unfair. Injury prone? He hasn't missed a game since 2010. Mediocre? OK, he's not top-5, but he's thrown for 4,000 yards in four straight seasons, including one with 5K. And he's on track for five straight. Old? He's 28 at a position where guys play at least until their late 30s. Sure, he probably locks onto Johnson too much. But can you throw for 5,000 yards by locking in on one receiver? Yeah, the Lions suck this year, but they have literally nothing on offense beyond Stafford, Tate and Johnson. Put Ivory on the Lions and I guarantee you they aren't 1-7. Having 3 top DEs in a 3-4 will NOT be what wins a championship for this team. Having TWO top DEs and a pro-bowl caliber QB...could. The Jets have proven over the last 50 years that finding a QB in the draft is even harder than we all know it is. Make a play for an established player at the most important position in sports. At the very least, we'll have a guy who can actually throw a Hail Mary from the 50 fucking yard line. Devin Smith and his potential are begging for the Jets to make this move.

No. Going to be way to expensive for a mediocre qb. was thinking this also + his age I have no concern about his age (turning 28 after the season). For a non-running QB who relies on his arm you could get another 7-10 years from the guy. The bigger question really is whether he's a good QB or not. He has had some truly exceptional passing seasons. He's basically thrown for 5000 yards twice (5,038 in 2011 and 4,967 in 2012) with a career TD-INT ratio of 144 to 96. In my mind, he'd surely be an upgrade to what we have now and what we've had for the past 5 years. BUT, how much of his success is due to Calvin Johnson? That's the key to me....Stafford's best years 2011-2013 coincide with a healthy Megatron who was in his prime. If we think Wilkerson's days are potentially numbered here as a Jet, I might try to use him as trade bait for a solid QB. Wilkerson + 2nd rounder for Stafford would be a deal I'd probably do.

Sign me up for some Stafford please. You don't throw for 5000 yards by accident. Yeah Yeah Calvin Johnson excuse has been abused for years. Give him a run game, protection, and he will be perfect for us. Hell, we have Marshall, almost as good as Calvin.
