Cotch is only 33?
When did the jets let him go, then, when he was 23?

And people still have a hard time believing in Newton...I know he's not perfect and doesn't always put good touch on the ball, but what he's been able to accomplish with essentially backups at all skill positions other than TE is pretty impressive. Plus you might have a back-to-back coach of the year with Rivera.

The Panthers have MVP Candidate Cam Newton and we have Ryan Fitzpatrick...
it's honestly that simple

But this has been a long standing excuse for this team. Also you can get to the SB (as they are about to show) and the Seahawks have shown, without superstar Dez Bryant types. You don't have to spend all first round on offense, there's talent in later rounds.

how about some shutdown defense? i get the part about fitz not being a franchise qb or the oline getting old and banged up or the offense turning the ball over so the other team plays on a short field but that doesn't exactly make up for the shut down defense we should be seeing. and it's not that they can't it's sometimes they don't seem to want to. i know it's pretty harsh but last season with genot they had to play from behind in just about every game and genot had the propensity to throw picks early and often. last season's offense seemed to give up the short field way more than this season's.

Panthers also have one of the best TEs in the league in Olsen. We have a can of mayonnaise at TE.

I did mention him in the OP, it's sort of the point he's the only "name" player on the offense and even so, he's already in his 9th season. I know he's a good and dependable TE and certainly better than anything the Jets have, but I don't know that he's ever been considered a "top" TE
