This game definitely had a different feel to it than the last five, sounds like Coach Bowles made an impression this week. Smith made his catch count! OK, I can't find an in game picture of Lozo but he had an impact today. Not sure about what Leo did today. Maybe the draft wasn't so horrible after all

One thing stood out to me after watching Smith's touchdown a few times.
He creates good separation during the route, but the defender is still close enough to potentially make a play to break up the pass .
As the ball is arriving, rather than keeping on his plane, he takes a quick jab step back towards the ball to create an extra arms length of separation right before he goes up for the catch. It was almost like a basketball player creating space using a step back. This allowed him to secure the catch before being contacted.
A thing of beauty.

The rookies came up big when needed. Leo did have a QB hit or two and was in a few run stuffs. God damn tho, that's one ugly pic of Mauldin. He looks like some methed out tranny.

He wasn't a game changer, but could get you 10ish sacks a year. We really need a speed rusher opposite him.

Good that we went to him earlier to set him up too. The more touches Smith has the more single coverage Marshall faces. Id even try some with Smith out wide and Marshall and Decker in the slot. Take advantage of our two big wrs as was working at the start of the season (with owusu wide).

Catapano also displayed a nice motor and brought some pressure. Looks like Reilly is going to be the odd man out in that rotation.

On one of the Jets shows this week on SNY, they had a question before a commercial asking if Smith should get reduced play. I told my wife thst I thought they would say no because he has talent and they need to get him on track. But I was surpised to see Lucas and everyone else say he should get reduced play.
I was happy to see him make a few catches snd especially that tough TD reception.
Then I watch the post-game show and there was Lucas saying that the Jets just needed to give the kid time. Obviously the time Lucas that he should lose.

Glad he got that TD. I have a feeling shit was getting in his head or something and fuckin with him, because it looked to me like he was making catches like that all the time in college. Hopefully he really starts coming around now so Fitzwarrior can throw him some bombs. and he catch them.

Evidently Smith took Bowles comments to heart and came though with some catches and his first TD. It was great to see Marshall hug him on the sidelines in a sign of support, and encouragement after the TD. Hopefully, this gets the kid going for the stretch run.
