College football player Jake Butt named tight end of the year www.mlive.com/wolverines/index.ssf/2015/12/michigans_jake_butt_wins_big_t.htmlANN ARBOR -- Jake Butt was one of the top tight ends in America this season. And in his own league, he was head and shoulders above the rest. On Tuesday, the 6-foot-6, 248-pound Michigan junior was named the Big Ten's 2015 tight end of the year. Butt had 20 more receptions (48) and 225 more yards (620) to go along with three touchdowns this season for the Wolverines. With 48 catches, Butt is now six receptions away from setting Michigan's all-time single-season tight end receptions record (Bennie Joppru had 53 in 2002). He's also 129 yards away from setting the single-season tight end receiving mark. Though that record is held by Devin Funchess, who had 748 yards in 2013 as a part-time receiver/tight end. Funchess also won the Big Ten's tight end of the year in 2013. Butt's 89 career receptions rank No. 4 on the school's all-time tight ends list, and his 1,066 yards rank No. 5 all-time. Jack Clancy (132 catches, 1,919 yards) holds both records. I'd derrière to say that's the best headline I've read today.
