Just remembering.
Shout out to Uncle Hoyt, Pearl Harbor survivor, fought in the pacific, Bronze Star and two Purple Hearts, did not know about his citations till his funeral this past June.
Uncle Marley and Uncle Willard who stormed Normandy Beach. Uncle DB who fought in Africa and Italy.
Good, good men and I miss them so.
RIP

Thank you to those people who gave their lives that day and those who continue to do so.
Truly The Greatest Generation. We sure could use some of that backbone today.

Sorry I'm late to the party. I did think about them this past Monday. My dad was on Omaha. He said he was laying on the beach and would've gotten lower but his buttons were in the way. Seriously, he said he told himself, "I'm not going to die laying on this beach." He got up and ran for it. He said he tried not to make friends because you never knew when they might get killed. Read the book "Civilian Soldier". It's a great read, and puts you in touch with those everyday guys and gals that made it "The Greatest Generation".
Btw, every American should try to go to the Arizona Memorial at least once. A very moving experience indeed.
