Why is anyone surprised?
Fitz is basically Chad Pennington. Average arm, good brain, lots of heart. But he can't carry this team. He threw two TDs and managed an offense that couldn't rush today.
I'm just as pissed as the next guy, but expecting Fitz to turn into John Elway today in the wind and lead a Jets team that couldn't rush and couldn't play defense is asinine.
We have a slightly above average QB who looked better at times this year because his WRs were playing excellent. Marshall dropped a key pass today. Tompkins dropped one at the end that could have been a difference.
Sure, Fitz could have played better, but I'm not tagging him with this loss. He wasn't out there giving Watkins 8-yard cushions or letting Tylenol Taylor convert seemingly every 3rd and 4th down.
We'll revisit personnel after the sting of this loss wears off....in like 4 months!!! But I think we're looking at the same three QBs heading into the 2016 season.

This game was an exact carbon copy of every loss we've had this year. Offense couldn't get it together for a whole half, struggled against a good defense, they really missed Powell today. I had no idea how vital he was to this offense. defense looked like they thought it was preseason or something, great against the run, nothing against the pass.
For whatever reason it always takes Fitzm a full quarter to get on the same page with his receivers. When the other team takes the lead, that's too late. But you can see when the pressure is on he makes bad decisions, 4 int's today, and that's not the definition of a clutch qB Biggest disappointment besides that ridiculous D "game plan" if I have to single out one play it's Thomplins dropping a sure TD to win the game. Bookends Kellen Davis's sure TD drop against, yes, Buffalo

Need Petty to challenge next year.
Petty or sign a soon to be released QB.
Refuse to watch the same episodes, next season. Fuck Fitzpatrick. Fuck Geno. & Fuck Devin Smith, just because.

if a big QB becomes available i would kick the tires. (Brees)
i think our offense is attractive to free agents.

I don't know if it's possible salary cap wise, but that kind of move is the only type of move that would make any difference for next year.

Fitz is a backup QB that overachieved this year. That's what he is. Not sure I agree. He isn't a Top 10 NFL QB, but only 10 teams have those. He's not in the bottom 10 either though. He's also the all-time leader in TD passes for the New York Jets in a single season. So there's that. The NFL is in short supply of killer QBs. Our best hope is that he plays as well next year as he did this year, and that Bryce Petty earns the starting job at some point next season simply by playing better than a good Fitzpatrick. The Jets couldn't get off the fucking football field on defense. That is why they lost today. They couldn't rush. That is why they lost today. And, because they trailed and couldn't rush, they had to rely on a good but not great QB in Ryan Fitzpatrick. Two TDs, a bad INT and a couple of sloppy ones is about what you get when you're in that situation.

Fitz is a backup QB that overachieved this year. That's what he is. Go fuck yourself. Look at his numbers. Most are the best the Jets ever had. If we don't drop 9 balls today we win and your sucking Fitzys teet, stop trying to sound like your something your not Nostradamus.

Based off this year, yeah. Based off pretty much every other year of his career, he's a bottom feeder QB. He overachieved, in my opinion. Marshall and Decker had monster years. I'm not counting on Fitz even coming close to repeating what he did here this year. Fitz did the same thing in buffalo early in his career and it earned him a monster contract. 8 or 9 years later after getting that big contract, he's been on like 6 different teams. He's a journeyman backup qb that overachieved. That's what he is.

" Tompkins dropped one at the end that could have been a difference."
>>> Jetstream, there's no "could have" here. He holds onto that ball, he's in the Endzone and we're getting ready for Round one.
Instead, FOUR LOOOOOOOOONG MONTHS we have to wait now. (longer for the regular season of 2016 to begin)
And we'll probably end up seeing a repeat of this crappy episode.....or we could just end up sucking ass entirely. Every season is different.
