Damn Lions broke his will.
On a serious note, the is the second off season that will be headlined by a player retiring early. Is this the start of a new trend?

Too bad he had to play on the lions. Wasted his prime on some truly awful Lions teams. For those that can't see the embedded twitter link, he finishes with 11,619 receiving yards (franchise record), 83 receiving touchdowns (franchise record) and five Pro Bowls. For those that can't see this one, Megatron was the second most prolific in terms of receiving yards before his 31st birthday in NFL history (11,619 receiving yards compared to 12,193 for Randy Moss). Larry Fitzgerald (11,367 yards) is third and Torry Holt (10,675 yards) fourth.

Good for you CJ all the money in the world can't fix your health. No doubt. One of my favorite players to watch (and one of the coolest nicknames), but you have to look out for yourself as a man first and a player second. I half-expected Brick to retire after reading his comments on the "Concussion" movie. Megatron is also following in the footsteps of Barry Sanders, who retired on the heels of a 1500 yard season at the age of 30.

Detroit is no longer "Rock City" but "Retirement City"

Damn. I still think we're a number of years away from this becoming the norm, but I expect that we will start to see more and more players walking away early.

Lions did the same to Barry Sanders. Sad.
Maybe Lions set to rebuild & we go grab Stafford for a reasonable deal?

He is 30. Its not like he is 25 and walking away before his first big payday. Already made a boatload of dough and probably realized the ring is never coming in Detroit. Id hang them up to.

I think the lions would still own his rights... not possible. Guys going out while his brain is intact, good for him.
